iirc, pre-votes (in the first week anyway) count toward a song being nominated in its second week of promotion. Songs can't be nominated or win in the first week of promotions. Every music show does its scoring in varying convoluted ways not worth going into t b h, but it's likely Dreamcatcher will at least be nominated on most/all of the shows next week. Also worth noting that groups or soloists who are not currently promoting may still have their songs win poo poo, for instance both Maria and When We Disco were in the top 3 of most shows or still winning like months after those songs came out, or any BTS song just dominating forever. I'm honestly expecting (G)I-DLE to keep winning for Hwaa this week, they've had like seven wins in a row. It would be nice to see Dreamcatcher get a first win. I don't really vibe with their music, but they're crazy talented and deserve more attention in Korea, which this comeback finally seems to be getting them. But they'll be up against (G)I-DLE, Yunho, HyunA, and I'm sure at least 3 boys bands I don't know the names of but are probably very popular lmfao. Here's hoping tho. Surprising absolutely nobody, Minzy just confirmed that As If It's Your Last was originally a 2NE1 song from like 2010, but didn't make the cut after they had recorded it. I mean, we been knew since that poo poo dropped, and it had previously been said by Bom on a live a while back lmbo which I think some people forget, but I always find it really fun when we get this inside baseball poo poo on which songs were originally meant for different groups. It happens a lot and all the time tbh, especially within companies, and even outside the kpop zone sometimes when Western writers make songs that end up going to a kpop group-- a prominent one off the top of my head is Look Who's Talking from BoA's English album being co-written by Britney Spears and originally meant for In The Zone, the demo of which is floating around out there. There's also the Kesha demo of Run Devil Run, but that song was always intended for SNSD and Kesha just sang for the guide. Songs being passed around is the least big news in any pop industry rly, but goddamn is it fun to talk about and think about what it might have sounded like for the people it was originally intended for. The As If It's Your Last one is just more noteworthy? I guess because whether or not old Blackpink songs were originally 2NE1 songs used to (lol still does tbh) cause a lot of tension and speculation, mostly due to the way things ended with 2NE1's sudden disbandment and people being bitter as gently caress about songs meant for them going to the newer, younger version of them lmao.

That Yoo Young Jin cover is great, but lol yeah the M/V feels like it should have been released for the holiday. I wouldn't be surprised if aespa's debut was pushed back due to covid and we were supposed to get Black Mamba earlier. Though, on the other hand Forever is a winter song so the video would prob be wintery as gently caress either way. I'm very pleased the SM tradition of girl groups releasing a cover as their second single continues to live on, I think f(x) is the only post S.E.S. group that didn't.
