I bought another one of these for my detached office. :v: It's WAY overkill but the room is getting super dusty with all of the sewing/crafting/tracking stuff in from outside given the minisplit has no filter to speak of on it. It is not quieter than the HVAC when it's maintaining the set point. It has genuinely improved the air quality in our 1250 sqft house noticeably, I can't wait to see how it works in the 15x20ish office that's very well air sealed.

The folks who are specifically making me an area rug, I emailed the address here at https://www.astrocarpetmills.com/

You can also get patterns like this at Lowes (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Joy-Carpets-Neon-Lights-12-ft-Textured-Fluorescent-Interior-Carpet/1000373003) or Flooring Inc per sq ft (https://www.flooringinc.com/searchresults.aspx#stq=neon%20lights&stp=1). However keep in mind that's just straight up carpet so there's no padding and if you cut it, it will be all frilled. At sq ft it's sold in a roll of 12'.

I believe the actual pattern holder is Joy Carpets because like 4 companies in the world actually run the entire carpeting industry
https://www.joycarpets.com/collections/neon-lights-broadloom-carpet

You can see it in action on YouTube by just basically typing in "arcade carpet," like this dude below. Most folks will do an entire room naturally, but I'm not really wanting to go that hardcore, so I'm stoked they can cut area rugs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lA9b72G7yU

This isn't doxx worthy but I'm redoing my office/garage and I'm extremely tempted to do this for a third of the room.

Been looking at MAME cabinets for my basement/ theater room. That carpet is a great idea for an arcade corner type of thing!

Yeah they'll cut circular rugs too so that would be perfect for a corner.

Just ordered today for tomorrow delivery, but it was highly recommended by a friend who usually does great research and only recommends high end products (ie my aeron and LG OLED were both recommendations from him) so I fully expect to love it.

Filters are once every 6 months. There are cheaper options with cheaper filters but I wanted somethin a little more high end.

I love the Austin Air I bought. They pro-rate warranty their filters for 5 years. Convinced another friend to buy one. Literal night and day difference in his allergies with several cats.

I have one of those and really like it. It has one of the best filter designs in my opinion because you can wash/change the cloth bottom (still have to replace the internal filter occasionally, but the cloth cover really gives the internal filter extra legs).

I also just got a Boston Scally cap, the Boondock

It's a pretty nice hat, I just wish their logo didn't stick to my bald head. No pic as they use .webp

Also, some odd sized measuring cups from homeandcooksales.com (not always having clearance, sometimes the storefront is just missing like today) and holy poo poo All-Clad doesn't gently caress around with their measuring cups, either. ~1.5mm stainless is no joke, and the set of three weighs like 3 Lbs. You get 2/3, 3/4 and 1.5C sizes. Also paid less than half retail, even after holding them I'm surprised they're $40.

Fun trick with a HEPA grade air purifier and a smart plug is to set it to activate when your at work/asleep and turn that sucker up to high. So much less dust and pet flakes floating around and it isn't a loud annoyance.

New purchase tax, I picked up a Hill People Gear Umlindi pack to pair with their kit bag and that thing is well made and carries great.

Hell yeah, we hopped on the all clad train with their factory sales last year and have slowly been acquiring a full set of pots and pans as well as those measuring cups—couldn’t be happier! Very few things in modern society are what I would consider built well, but these are 100% an exception to the rule. Plus the seconds we’ve bought have been basically flawless, for a fraction of their normal pricing.

Speaking of built well, I just bought a new table off crapslist!

Well technically two tables and some chairs. Last night I picked one up with the chairs but once I got it home I noticed it was plywood and oak veneer with made in china stamped on the bottom, which I should’ve noticed but was in too much of a rush and distracted trying to figure out if I could load everything up. Was kinda bummed but figured gently caress it, I’ll get something nicer later, good enough for now. This morning another person whom I’d contacted over the weekend reached out and asked if I was still interested, and that one was legit amish furniture so I jumped on that and the difference in person is almost night and day. Super excited to finally have a proper table for stuff instead of setting up a card table whenever people come over!

It was really stupid buying two of basically the same thing when I’m probably the only person that’ll ever notice the difference, but I guess this one sparks joy? Funny thing is I paid a lot less for the much nicer table :(

I've got one in my bedroom and one in my living room. It doesn't seem to make much difference in how often I dust. Once dust settles it's pretty much staying there until you stir it up. Maybe some of it is getting filtered before it can settle but not to a noticeable degree.

I bought them mainly for allergies but to my surprise the charcoal filter for odors has a noticeable and appreciated effect. They also have an automatic sensor to turn them up when the air quality is poor. I thought that feature would be bullshit too but any time I fry (and sometimes burn) food they crank up for about ten minutes.

Mixing the two is pointless. The acid and base react and you get salty water that is either slightly acidic or slightly basic, depending on the ratio your started with.

Especially if tou have hard water, a plain vinegar solution can work wonders, or mixed with a little dish soap. The acid will help dissolve minerals that are left behind and contribute to soap scum.
