Logan’s Run has a small amount of weird sex stuff. It’s weird to me that a movie with full frontal is either G or PG, I forget which, but the 70s did not give a gently caress. The director’s commentary for Zardoz is very much worth a listen. He doesn’t really talk about the movie but tells a lot of stories about filming that are aimless and funny, like how he had to make changes to the script because there were only a limited number of actors in the city where they filmed who were willing to be naked extras.

Another goon gifted me a copy of Huniepop as a joke like three years ago, and ever since there is always at least one terrible porn game in the New and Trending section on the store page. Usually more than one. quote:Why do people keep fixating so much on Spoony anyway? Like I get there was a bunch of spoony drama and stuff but people seem to latch on to him in a way that they never really do the other CA members. Even before the CA breakup his fanbase had a tendency to be way more outspoken then anybody else's on CA - even Doug's - and it used to be a source of consternation for Spoony when other CA creators stopped wanting to do crossovers with him because it always resulted in them getting dogpiled by his base for "ruining" a video. He just seemed to attract the sort of obsessive, aggressive nerd fan that would do things like make retrospective videos about him almost a decade after he stopped putting out anything in terms of new material. Part of it may also just be sheer voyeurism. Spoony not only had a very public and ugly end to his internet career, but it was fueled at least in part by genuine mental health issues, whereas the other CA people who didn't stick the landing turned out to just be run-of-the-mill creeps and assholes.

The movie was a series of short stories with each story staring, written by, and centering around one content creator each. I never saw it but that's how it was described to me. I'd say that Spoony stuff was, at least at some point, based around him being one of the best in the business all those years ago...for some people anyways who may have perhaps wanted to shame him into creating again or something like that which was obviously going to totally not work. Of course it's long gone into "look at this lolcow"/Cringe-type territory as with so many others and it never really seems to stop even if he does...well, basically nothing now. People still talk even though he doesn't do much except post on Twitter, just going through the same things over and over.

Plus he had a whole bunch of health issues both mental and physical. That doesn't excuse all of what he did, especially leaving his patreon up years after he stopped producing anything, but I'm just sad for him rather than angry. He had a lot of talent as an entertainer but (judging by his relatively recent livestreams) he's become too bitter and burned out to make use of it.

Yeah the time spent editing and performing the skits were huge, huge time sinks according to him a decade ago. It's a shame because given his Phantasmagoria, SWAT, and Ripper LPs, he was absolutely not bad at all with being entertaining offscript if he had to be. Things might have been different if he were able to make it to the big blow up of twitch streaming and the shift from longer reviews to shorter stuff on youtube so not every video he did required a massive amount of editing. At this point, he's bitter and internally suffering, and his "fanbase" mostly consists of people egging him on or coming up with ideas like "lol we should totally go to court on the case spoony has open" and all that poo poo just sucks.

In case anyone still enjoys "angry reviewer guy watches bad movies" type of content I recommend Bobsheaux. It's just him and his wife ripping on bad movies and the skits/lore are kept to a minimum. They're a very wholesome duo.

Depends. Does he also get really excited and happy if he likes something? That's what I liked about Spoony the most: His manic energy. I've found reviewers who are 100% angry and only angry to be terribly exhausting and dull. If you can't add some genuine maniacal laughter into the mix then and when,

Yeah he's very emotive. If you want a starting point I recommend Disney's Descendants, a series that he doesn't care for but his wife loves so you get some good back-and-forth between them. If you want to see something that he genuinely loves check out the first Land Before Time.

LordKat himself I've always been told is mostly an extremely petty human who thinks he should have been a lot bigger than he was and did MauLer-esque length streams complaining about Spoony. What's really funny in hindsight is that it was Notch who LordKat was apparently refused an interview with. Antigravitas posted:Pretty much everyone from that era of reacting to movies lists MST3K as their inspiration. That's throwing stones in a glass neighbourhood… Yeah. In a way that helped give rise to the Modern Internet Reviewer (or, at least, the first generation). While AVGN was the big impetus a lot of them patterned off the cow town puppet show. I think Linkara even has a Tom Servo he made on his bookshelf that he also brought to a RiffTrax live show and I know Bill Corbett and Lindsay have friendly back-and-forths on Twitter. I think even Linday and Lewis interviewed Mike Nelson once.

Yeah the Ultima retrospective is really sad because it starts off with him reviewing games that he loves and were genuinely foundational to him, but he got to the bad games right around the time things were going downhill for him in real life and what was clearly originally meant to be a "great series that fell from grace" saga just turned into Spoony having a genuine breakdown on camera and then calling it content. Spoonychat always depresses the hell out of me. He had a genuine comedic talent that outstripped the vast majority of his peers and it's really a shame to see where it all ended up.
