I had the strategy guide with the scratch and sniff barf and honestly it kinda put me off on the monster designs because of just how gross it was.

mother 3 is a fantastic game and the fan translation is great. just a tightly designed jrpg with a good challenge, tons of gameplay improvements from EB but with all the same charm it really is a travesty it never got released officially over here

if you play the Mother 3 fan translation, it's really good, but, in Earthbound it often makes sense to avoid random battles, because they will beat the poo poo out of you as you go from point a to point b and you can end up wasting a lot of time if you get wiped out (probably in Peaceful Rest Valley) so you learn to pick your battles and conserve resources in Mother 3 it's kind of the complete opposite, and if you try to conserve hp you'll probably just end up underleveled for a boss fight (probably the Resconstructed Caribou) it's not a deal-breaker but it's one of those things I wish I knew my first time playing

just went to the super mario wiki to see if they ever brought wart back and i forgot that he can kill you with his death animation. it makes sense because he is the most badass of the mario villains, who can gently caress up your dreams.
