I never ended up using my PSVR much for several reasons but I got a Quest 2 today and man it rules. Hand tracking is super rad, even though it's extremely janky it adds so much immersion to games that support it, I can't wait to see that technology advance (I've only played with it in Waltz of Wizards so far). Hell, just give me some special hand tracking gloves so it doesn't have to be done by camera. Everything looks so much better than PSVR too :swoon:

I still don't get that "transported to an alternate reality" feeling that I got the first week or two I tried VR, I can't stop being aware of my actual surroundings which is both a blessing and a curse I suppose. Now I just need to get a battery pack because this built in battery doesn't last long enough to get past "whoa that's cool" into actually playing the game yet.

contractors is a good middleground between onward and pavlov. pavlov is also not cross-platform compatible, while contractors is. i know ive gone on alot about contractors alot in this thread but it deserves more attention and hopefully i can catch some footage playing with c&k or something

Yeah Pokerstars was my thought for a chill game. You can even play Blackjack if you want to be so chill that you don't even go up against other players.

Alternatively, if you like boobs, VR Paradise is a surprisingly good VR strip club. They've done a lot of updates -- even have a limited time Lunar New Year decor going on right now and they cycle in other holiday stuff -- and a recent update made it so you can play your own custom music.

There's a futuristic club DLC that is especially chill to hang out in.

So, seeing as this is essentially a parkour game... Fall Guys mode when?

Also, you need to make the grab action (all fingers curled) actually grab thin enough stuff, for enhanced monkey bar fun.

Also show some icon next to player names on the board that indicates when someone is speaking, so it's more easy to identify and mute the screeching children.

Some folk prefer to tiptoe around the ugly truth that VR's biggest boost will absolutely come from the porn industry and the inevitable easy-wash controllers.

Zet posted:

What's a good chill VR game? I want to do some VR before bed but I'm already Ragnarock'd out tonight and that rules out a lot of arm movement, etc.

At some point, I need to push myself into VRChat, but late at night I'm also not really wanting to socialize either which I feel is mostly VRChat? Or can I just lurk different places like it's a SecondLife in VR?

who was saying he didn’t really want to socialize with other real people, not the person who was asking for co-op/multiplayer

They have said they are working on multiplayer for VRParadise which, yeah, sounds a little awkward to me but I don’t judge

Bachelor parties. A dancer dragged my bachelor friend on stage, took out a pair of scissors slightly smaller than hedgerow clippers, wedgie'd my friend and then clipped his underwear. She proceeded to pull out his boxers from outside his pants. She did a dance with his boxers, and when finished launched them back at our table.

it was more exciting than going to the bar one over where there was more than likely a guy playing his 900th cover of "take it easy" by them eagle boys

but you only live once, it was a bachelor party, and it's one of those stories that we will tell his kids when they're old enough. Besides the half naked woman it was like most bars

To continue the headphone discussion, what is everyone's experience with bluetooth audio? I got the Quest 2 working with the cheap clone BT receiver for my Shures, but when I try it with Sony WF1000XM3 or the Denon AV receiver the Q2 doesn't seem to see those at all. But it does pick up my Xiaomi activity band and Samsung TVs from my neighbours. I guess there are some incompatibilities which will hopefully be fixed in future versions.

It works when I tried it with galaxy buds and a Steelseries Arctis 9, but there's a noticeable lag to the audio. It's not a huge problem if you're playing Table Tennis or Minigolf but I imagine it would be hard to live with it in other games. My Arctis 9 has an aux jack so I just gave up on the bluetooth dream and have been plugging it in with a short auxiliary cable. I was kinda bummed about the buds because there's a low lag "gamer mode" that I can turn on and hoped the lag would be minimal but it didn't seem to help. I can use them on my PC with almost no discernable lag but for some reason it's just bad on the Quest 2.

They're just awkward and weird IMO and I'm a hetero male that considers himself at least somewhat normal, haha.

Tried gorilla tag for just a few minutes and had a hard time getting the movement down. I'll give it another shot but it felt like I was halfway through the floor, but maybe that's normal since my avatar is shorter? I've always thought I was a little too high in beat saber as well so maybe my index needs tweaking. I usually just set it on the floor to calibrate height but maybe I should actually measure when it's on my dome.

i have done significant research and scrutiny on audica and synth riders (i played one song on normal) and i can say that synth riders is the better game, but audica is still OK, seems like audica is better meant as a chill cooldown experience since it's not really much of a workout and the game is pretty forgiving about accuracy

i dont think synth riders needs the walls to dodge tho, feels like they went "well beat saber has them so i guess we have to have them!!!" but it's already fun on the songs that don't have obstacles to dodge

Yeah that's intentional, you need to be able to reach the ground to walk around so I had to cut out your legs. I still think it's tuned a little bit too close to the floor, but until I have some way of dynamically adjusting it I'd rather have it err on the side of closer to the floor so people with shorter arms don't get stranded by their own bodies. Your room calibration shouldn't have any impact on where you end up since I have your body as a physics object that will fall to the in game ground no matter what your height is set to
