You're right, I guess there are Serious Issues on one side, and missed out guys on the other. But not all coins are as environmentally detrimental as BC right? I mean I invest in some shitcoins and altcoins that don't seem to be in the same universe.

Going off this list: https://coinmarketcap.com/, a handful of the top 20 use PoS, a couple other are some other system, and the rest are PoW. Of course, looking at the top 20 by market cap doesn't mean much because the power is used to generate transactions. By far the most trade volume comes from Tether, which IIRC technically isn't PoW but it relies on the BTC network so I'm counting it. Tether has double the (USD) trade volume of Bitcoin, which has more than double the volume of ETH, which has more than double the volume of Bitcoin cash, which has slightly more volume than Litecoin, and then we get to the non-PoW coins. I haven’t followed crypto stuff much for about the past year, but is Tether still constantly printing money? Does anyone actually believe they have the cash reserves to cover that amount?

My MGM holdings are up 85% but the stock is already higher than it was trading just before covid. The cruises are still down 50% or more from pre covid levels and I feel they have way more upside. Hell they haven’t even starting cruising again in the US. Soon as it opens they’ll pop. Also lol, just realized my best performer is Ally which is up 120% since March/April. I simply bought blue chips that were down huge from the covid crash with no real long term risk from covid except the cruise and airlines. Up 93% overall since the crash. I definitely like cruises right now, they seem to still have about 100% upside from their current levels

Are you agreeing or disagreeing? The point is to buy into that fear and uncertainty for potentially massive gains long term. If the outlook was positive then the price would be higher. Maybe not go all in but keep some cash in the reserves for that "predicted" decline to reduce your cost basis even further.

For me personally I wouldn't touch cruises with a rented dick. I'm increasingly interested in the idea of GE ($11) hitting $15 or $20 (for the first time in a long time) or SAVE ($30) returning to $45+ again with people eventually flying. poo poo like that is reasonable.. expecting Cruises to recover.. man, I just don't see it.

please knock Mom! posted:Zaurg should be probed when he’s not posting in his own thread again Like I said up in the rules thread recently: Don't talk about Zaurg posting. Just report him and move on, or respond to the content in earnest (after reporting him of course). He's right that people poo poo up the thread talking about him, so I've had enough of that too. I've queued up a month for him since I'm sick of his poo poo in general. Zaurg, stop posting in BFC or I'm going to ask for a 100Ker on you. A question worth answering, though posted:Is this the stock trading thread or the loving shitcoin thread? To answer this question sincerely: There are one mod and one IK for BFC right now. The mod does not trade individual stocks and views it largely as gambling. I can't speak for the IK, but I suspect he has similar views re: investment strategies. I don't intervene in this thread because I'm not a fit to enforce its thread culture, so to speak, and because I don't actually read the thread unless something reports poo poo or PMs me. (Like, for example, if Zaurg shows up here and gets reported.) If the thread in general has specific rules they'd like me to enforce, I'm game for it. I'm not going to dictate the thread culture/contents, though, as long as I don't see WSB-style racism and pump&dump shittery going on.

On the topic of traditional stocks, anyone got an opinion on $BOXL? In other words, the thread for gambling in the various markets. Allow discussion of anything short term and/or risky: options, day trading, crypto, etc. This, then, gives it a nice contrast with the long-term investing thread. The only real change that would need to happen if everyone else agrees, would be to rename the thread to "short-term 'investing' thread" or something like that.

I would prefer crypto trading not be in this thread because I've never seen an interesting discussion about it, just boosterism or the same arguments repeatedly. Nothing ever changes about it except the price, by design, so I don't foresee anything changing about the resulting discussion.
