It was the perfect mix of, soft-spoken voices, goofy 70s and 80s tv effects, and genuinely interesting information. I wish the BBC would release the tapes of them, or the OU for that matter

infernal machines posted:is there an energy use/carbon footprint comparison for the popular fake meat products vs traditional meat farming? Depends if you care only about only energy or only emissions or only environmental impacts or some combination of them all. And of course depends on the brand, like the most expensive, impossible does pretty well quote:LCAs should be considered within the broader ecological cost of relying on livestock for meat and dairy. Our LCA methodology compares the potential environmental impacts of Impossible Burger® and conventional, industrial ground beef burger -- from farm field to manufacturing gate. Here are the results per kilogram of frozen, ready-to-ship burger patty: As does Beyond’s beef product quote:Environmental impact of U.S. beef production was drawn from an existing LCA study commissioned by the National Cattleman’s Beef Association (Thoma et al., 2017). The Beyond Burger LCA was evaluated using the same impact assessment methods used in the U.S. beef study. but being better than beef is pretty easy. Looks like when compared to other meats they still do well but not as well quote:
