Yeah that's what Republicans say their politics are because it sounds not very right wing, you could have a party that actually believed that stuff and only that stuff but then it wouldn't be right wing.

Their actual politics is "we want local control so Texas can abuse gays, but not local local control so Austin Texas can decriminalize homelessness or raise the minimum wage or ban plastic bags or or or"

What they want is only control by them, governments that they control should be maximally authoritarian and powerful, bigger/smaller governments they don't control should be hands-off/subservient respectively.

I went to try to find the goon parody (I figured I wouldn't have any luck) but I found one of the original cartoons it was parodying and holy poo poo, I genuinely mixed up the parody and an actual cartoon in my head. The speech bubble I remember is obviously from the goon parody but this was the figure I was remembering in my mind:

On top of that, I found this cartoon on a Freep thread where they were all angry about Obama bowing.

Obviously, you did not hear President Trump's "Christmas Message" to the American people (fake news media did not cover his message) where he actually gave the plan of salvation, instructing people how to repent and ask the Savior into their heart to be "Born Again"!

I got curious about whether or not this did, in fact, happen--I mean, I knew Trump pandered to evangelical whites--and found the transcript of Trump's 2020 Christmas Message:

https://www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/donald-trump-melania-trump-christmas-message-transcript-2020 posted:

Melania Trump: (00:00)
The president and I want to wish every American a very Merry Christmas.

Donald Trump: (00:05)
During the sacred season, Christians celebrate the greatest miracle in human history. More than 2,000 years ago, God sent his only begotten son to be with us. An angel announced the birth of our lord and savior to humble shepherds. He said, “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all of the people. Today in the town of David, a savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord. You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.” At Christmas, we thank God for sending us his son to bring peace to our souls and joy to the world.

Melania Trump: (00:48)
As you know, this Christmas is different than years past. We are battling a global pandemic that has affected all of us. Yet, through this great challenge, we have been inspired by the kindness and courage of citizens across this country. Teachers have worked extraordinarily hard to keep our children learning. Students have delivered groceries to elderly neighbors. Communities have found new ways to stay connected to one another. Courageous first responders, doctors, and nurses have given everything to save lives. Brilliant scientists have developed treatments and vaccines.

Donald Trump: (01:34)
We are delivering millions of doses of a safe and effective vaccine that will soon end this terrible pandemic and save millions and millions of lives. We’re grateful for all of the scientists, researchers, manufacturing workers, and service members who have worked tirelessly to make this breakthrough possible. It is truly a Christmas miracle.

Melania Trump: (01:59)
During this wonderful time of year, we also give thanks for the brave and selfless Americans who keep us safe. We are forever grateful for the men and women of law enforcement and the heroes of the United States military.

Donald Trump: (02:17)
In this holy season, we thank God for his infinite love and we pray that the light of his glory will forever shine on this magnificent land. On behalf of Melania and the entire Trump family, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

They were probably referring to whenever it was Trump claimed to have made it legal to say "Merry Christmas" again. Since prior to that, saying that poo poo could get you fired or even jailed.

Cool. The cap on social security is around $140k income annually, taxed at 6.2%. Over 40 years that's $347k maximum paid. Retiring at 65 with a 20 year expectancy, that's $17k/year.

The average monthly payment is around $1500 per https://www.fool.com/retirement/2020/12/13/heres-the-average-social-security-benefit-by-age/ or $18k/yr, and it's very unlikely they were paying in 140/yr at the start, so they're getting more than they deserve. Time to cut those checks in half!

(Ask him who gets the money when those paying into the system die young. Then ask him what happens when everyone lives 10% longer. Bonus points if you ask the same questions for "IBM stock and dividends".)

Anyone else seeing a dearth of forwards about the Texas crisis? It makes sense - I looked at Breitbart, WND, OANN, none of them are putting any emphasis on this, some even ignoring it on their front page altogether.

I think chuds don't actually know what's happening there.

Edit: I mean, apart from some random stuff about wind turbines, but even that is not up to the volume one might expect. This whole situation is being extremely downplayed in right wing news.

My stepdad (currently in New Mexico) posts daily about 10-15 dumbass memes, and since this started he has not posted a single one referring to Texas. Where his wife, my mother, currently lives. With no power. In the cold. You'd think he had a personal interest in this, but that's not what their meming is for, is it. This pisses me off far more than his general chuddery.

I was gonna say give them time. With Rush Limbaugh being dead it's going to take some time for them to get their smart rear end burns and stupid talking points in order, given that big fat vacuum he left. It would usually take 24-48 hours anyway until I started to hear all the conservabots at work repeating the same memes in the lunchroom.

I expect when it comes (and it will), it'll be something along the lines of what you wrote and have something to do with green energy, regulations and all the people from California moving to Texas. Certainly it won't be the fault of the state's conservative government and, even if it is, then that just goes to prove how bad government works so check and mate, libtards.

Yeah. And even if it was just invested into Texas' special independent grid, $10m spread over a population of 30m at ~100 per square mile gets pretty thin pretty quick (unless they're rolling back that whole rural electrification thing)
