Anyone have any TINY WARRIORS, ADVENTURERS, AND MONSTERS? Stuff like the things below, or something completely different! ovenboy fucked around with this message at 05:58 on Jun 24, 2020 |

I'm kicking off a new Traveller campaign and need some character portraits for a ship's crew. Please post pictures of hard-sci-fi navigators, sensorOps nerds, engineering types and a Vargr pilot (think dogmen) protip: be careful of doing a search for Vargr on DeviantArt. More furry porn that you care to see...

I also have a strange request. Orcs wearing stereotypical medieval clothing. That is rather than looking like their standard barbarian selves, orcs looking like knights, or kings and queens. It's a hard thing to search for sadly, but anything like that would be appreciated. Also something probably easier, but art of the people of Mali, like Mansa Musa. So I guess black people in Arabic dress. Eimi fucked around with this message at 18:49 on Jun 29, 2020 |

What's the thread's policy on photography? I've found a couple of photos of Mali people on Tumblr, most with the photographer's name but not the model's. Is it alright to post those?

Post it. This is the place for inspiring images. Always credit artists where possible.

Alright then. Let us start with a couple of portrayals of the man himself, Mansa Musa: I like Civilization's take on him. He looks like a guy who could spend enough money on souvenir to break the local economy. Women dance to send off a friend on an airplane trip Location: Mopti, Mali Photographer: James P. Blair The following photos are by Sergio Pelassano. Fair warning: his website is straight up hideous: http://www.sergiopessolano.it/english/index.htm I wish I had the last guy's style. Now for some medieval orcs. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/RY5BEm Couldn't find the source for this one, sorry. I found it here: http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/blog/page/28/ https://www.deviantart.com/johnofthenorth/art/Orc-Waiter-370640860 What? He's a medieval baker. Ignore the title. This is clearly an artist with an oven. Finally, the sci-fi crew. Anyone got any art on smaller rock golems? Trying to find stuff that isn't like a giant golem or such which is apparently 99% of the art for this.

Here's a few. Their proportions make them look smaller than they are in the actual game. https://www.dungeonsolvers.com/2019/05/06/dd-monster-monday-galeb-duhr/

Thank you for find those, I'll file them away for later on this campaign. I found this bad boy which works perfectly, and has the bonus quirk of looking kind super humanoid which gives this guy another nice quality. I love it when you find a good image and a story just kind of writes itself from it.

Scroll up a bit, and you'll find some examples of that, I think. Could I get a reminder of why it's important to use imgur? Because let me tell you, having to put all those characters through that basically doubled the time needed for this.

It started in the days when Something Awful linking to a site would inevitably bring it to its knees. Between this being a dead thread in a dead forum and hobbyist sites mostly running off Amazon servers it's less of a concern, but image leeching is probably still considered bad manners.

paradoxGentleman posted:Scroll up a bit, and you'll find some examples of that, I think. Aside from imgur usually keeping pictures hosted a lot longer than various picbuckets and shittymeme .coms or whatever, there's basically no reason at this point, but AFAIK the rule has never been officially rescinded. It sounds like you're having problems using imgur; it has pretty click and drag picture uploading even for large numbers of pictures on the same page, but pulling things from especially goofy web pages sometimes gives it trouble. For example, basically all my posts here were done with one imgur page open. https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3921385&userid=85327

The natural life cycle of image hosts seem to go like this: "We're not like the others, we're cool and convenient." "Wait, poo poo, we need to make money. Uhh voluntary subscription?" "poo poo, we're still not making money, gonna disable direct links and redirect to a page with ads." (Imgur already experimented with this at one point, though they didn't have ads yet and walked back on it for now) "Nope, still not working, let's add resolution and accessibility limits." "Wait, users, don't go!" Then everyone goes to the next cool site and the cycle repeats. And forum threads lose their images. Imgur will eventually probably do that too.

When imgur dies; it will be time for a new thread. I hate dead links in an image thread

I'm pretty sure this is why Imgur is basically its own community at this point--it encourages a lot of people to look at its front page and take in ads, which are usually more elaborate or interesting than the stuff on the SA front page.

Does anyone have any pictures of heavily armored Warforged, preferably with a halberd and/or lots of luggage? I went back a few pages and didn't see anything. I'm playing an Oath of the Common Man Warforged Paladin in a one-off later this week. He wears full plate armor, but pictures of warforged not wearing external metal armor would also be fine. He can be in pristine condition as long as it's not too ostentatious (he has a lot of gadgets he's picked up in his travels, but he gives away all of his money to people who need it, mostly street urchins etc).

Probably a tall order, but I'm looking for a picture of a large building collapsing in a landslide or earthquake, or ideally even down a chasm that suddenly opened right below it. It should pass as a fantasy temple, fort or castle in the broadest sense so nothing modern, or Elven for that matter. Could be several buildings too though. If it was an actual battlemap that would be amazing, but I'd be happy with an image along those lines.

Can anyone find that picture of a spider monster that crouches down and mimics a woman who has been stabbed? She's depicted in a sidebar as making piteous noises, and then springs to attack when an adventurer kneels down to help her.

DressCodeBlue posted:Anyone have any good spaceship or industrial factory battlemaps (preferably ungridded)? Pointing me towards a content shop that has some nice ones would also be appreciated. Roll20.net's marketplace has these to offer: Gabriel Pickard's Quick Encounters: Scifi 1 : Some ready-made maps set on a volcanic hellworld, focusing mostly on metal production more than ship-building. Gabriel Pickard's Vile Tiles: Steam Works : Steampunk themed brassworks decor - pipes, valves, grilles, boilers, vats. Loke Battlemats' Sci-fi Battle Maps : Sci-fi battlemaps set in a mostly-metal infrastructure. Relatively spare decor - would need to be decorated further. Gabriel Pickard's Vile Tiles: Sci-Fi Decor : Highly detailed tzotchkes that can be used to further decorate an industrial setting, plus extras. Gabriel Pickard's Vile Tiles: Sci-Fi Decor 2 : More decor for sci-fi stuff. Of note are the control-panels and additional electronic infrastructure, including holography! Brass Badger's Warehouses & Storehouses : Warehouses and shipping container stockyards, plus decor for customizing them. If logistics forms a part of your ideal industrial chain, this could serve well. Gabriel Pickard's Draft A Spacecraft collection: Cruiser Tiles, Cruiser Maps, Biomechanical, Space Elves, Industrial : Detailed, modular and highly evocative maps for constructing the insides of spaceships and installations. Gabriel Pickard's Compound Quick Encounters 1 : Industrial, claustrophobic tunnels with alt maps for when the power goes out. Now that's really cool! Robert Riter's Void collection : Metallic tiles and decor with a seriously industrial feel - gunmetal grey, rusted iron, plus decals and other decor! Seinstheorie's Futuristic Decor : Cyberpunk decor for when you want a low-budget 90s set dressing feel. Peter Forge's Battle Terrains Futuristic Tiles Collection, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 : Stylish tile packs plus decor and some ready-made maps. Modiphius's Starfleet Tileset and Klingon Tileset : VTT maps taken straight from Modiphius' Star Trek RPG. - - - - Patreons for artists useful to your cause include: Miska's Maps : an artist specializing in VTT maps with a hand-drawn style, who's really leaning into the sci-fi maps these days. Many Maps : specializes in cyberpunk maps, plus tokens. 2-Minute Tabletop : has a small smattering of sci-fi stuff. FragMaps : Cyberpunk mapmaker, plus VTT assets. Galaxy Compass : Formerly Mutenn Maps, Galaxy Compass has serious potential. VTT assets plus maps. - - - - DriveThruRPG.com has these to offer: Heroic Maps' Spacecraft collection : A collection of sci-fi maps for your setpieces. Gamer Printshop : 3D modeller with a healthy collection of sci-fi maps. Also, check his Artstation, where you will find his maps he did for the COD: Advanced Warfare Strategy Guide. 0-hr : The brainchild behind Armada Codex, a self-developed zine specializing in starship deckplans. - - - - Other Sources For Maps: The game Heat Signature on Steam has four different tilesets of modular spacecrafts that they use to make procedural vessels for you to sneak around in. The in-game assets are stored as high-res .PNGs, which you can easily repurpose to make cool maps in your favorite VTT or in photoshop.
