I'd like Wilson to be good since he's Mahomes/Farve level back yard football fun. How'd he get out of going on a mission trip like all the other Mormons?

He simply pointed out that most mock drafts have him going to the Jets, and they agreed that it was close enough.

They've some pick odds up:

quote:

1st pick
88101 Trevor Lawrence -5000
88102 Justin Fields +1200
88103 Penei Sewell +1800

2nd pick
88129 Zach Wilson +120
88131 Penei Sewell +175
88130 Justin Fields +225
88132 Trey Lance +500

3rd pick
88145 Justin FIelds +200
88141 Penei Sewell +225
88142 DeVonta Smith +350
88144 Ja'Maar Chase +350
88143 Rasahwn Slater +500
88146 Zach Wilson +500
88147 Trey Lance +1200

3rd pick at this point is suggesting the money is on the Dolphins trading out.

THE SOUND A WET FART MAKES
Anyone have opinions on the RB class this year? I'm assuming Najee and Etienne are RB1 and RB2, sounds like maybe Javonte Williams and Michael Carter are RB3/4? but based on the VERY LITTLE bit of tape I've watched some guys like Pooka Williams, Jermar Jefferson and Khalil Herbert look like they might be good value picks day 2/3?

Who's the #1 vision, agility and contact balance guy that'll be predicted as the next Leveon Bell but will instead end up on return duty and get knocked out of the league because he weighs 150 lbs?

Etienne I believe. I think it’s a decent class that doesn’t have a true headliner. Much like last year

What happened to Chuba Hubbard last year anyway? I know he eventually opted out but he wasn't tearing things up like usual before that I don't think.

Coach drama/not wanting to play for the coach might have played into it I guess.

They were a way better vertical team last year which kept people out of the box. Chuba is a nightmare at speed but doesn’t escape things super easy in the first two yards of someone gets a hand on him. They made their living on intermediate passing this year since there was some mixture of weaker pass blocking and more dinged up receivers.

Not being up for playing with Gundy anymore probably didn’t help that either.

I really like Javonte Williams, the guy seems to defy physics in terms of his balance and center of gravity. He plays like he should be built like Maurice Jones-Drew, just a human weeble.

Actually no that's not a good comp. He's a dude who can catch and can run fast but had a lovely QB so he's gonna be a late pick. Also this is pure conjecture but the plays I've seen of him just scream 'I'ma end someone's existence on special teams.'

Being conflicted between Wilson and Lawrence doesn't seem totally crazy to me. Lawrence seems the rare prospect with an insanely high floor. That itself has tremendous value. Still, with the way the NFL has coached up prospects in recent years, and the success of backyard football athleticism, I understand someone thinking Wilson has a higher ceiling and the downside being not so down as to not roll the dice.

The real reason Lawrence absolutely has to go #1 is that he's been the best QB prospect for 3 years so if he busts no one will blame the Jags for taking him. If they passed it would be crazy pressure on whoever they did pick to produce immediately at a very very high level.

Wilson does not have a higher ceiling than Lawrence if you think that you don't understand how incredible of a prospect Lawrence is

Very different but kind of similar to people overdrafting kick returners after Devin Hester for a bit. When a guy is so good people think there might be a new blueprint or formula to follow but there's not going to be another QB throwing darts horizontal right after Mahomes.

Yeah this is a big part of it, by not picking a Burrow or Lawrence the overwhelming likelihood is that it's a career-defining move in the worst possible way. If you do pick them and they underperform it looks a lot better than if you don't pick them and they don't just flat out burn out of the league.

Everyone knows the Jets passed on Dan Marino, only the most masochistic Jets fan knows who they actually took. people talk about all the teams passing on Patrick Mahomes all the time despite the fact that there's no way of knowing that he would have been as successful in another system and with another supporting cast.
