I think Tesla was already told they can buy BTC if they want but it won't count as $$$ for the purposes of reporting financial reserves so they'll need the BTC equivalent of actual currency as well.

its very volatile, so using it to buy stuff is less appealing than using it as a vehicle for speculation. why buy poo poo with it when the currency itself could shoot up in value? or the opposite, why take it as payment if it could crash in value at short notice?

it also plain sucks as a currency and is no way equipped to meet the pace at which other modern electronic transactions take place.
