Whereas normal working people, especially the poor, know exactly how lovely and horrible and cruel society can be and often is, both in general and in how it is and power are structured. My partner is a first-gen college student and constantly has to butt heads with people whose parents are doctors and lawyers. She calls them the "Wokety Wokes." They know all the lingo, they're forever vigilant against whatever thing is politically incorrect this year, they call themselves progressives, anti-racists, and good allies if not members of the LGBTQ+, but if you try to bring up the subject of the material conditions of the working class and how Captain Marvel and Black Panther didn't do anything to improve those conditions, you have become today's Very Problematic Person. They'll excoriate you until the Zoom meeting has run out of its allotted time, no department business will have been solved, and then they'll jump in their dad's BMW on their way to a rapid Covid test so they can attend some kind of gala. This staff became known as “The Inquiry.” Most of the experts were lawyers, geographers, political scientists, and historians from American colleges and universities and learned societies. The Inquiry ceased as an independent organization in December 1918. After that, it was absorbed into the Division of Territorial, Economic, and Political Intelligence of the American Commission to Negotiate Peace which represented the United States at the peace conference in Paris. To me, one of the main things that separate conspiracy theories from reality is competence and foresight. And that is much more bizarre to me; so much of the world we live in comes from a sprawling machine, both incomprehensible and uncomprehending. Almost every cog in that machine is a bumbling insane doofus, pursuing their own self-interest or desires, they assemble into small systems that are all bouncing around, and those assemble into larger agencies and groups that also have no loving idea what they're doing, and somehow this coalesces into this behemoth of insanity and dysfunction, built out of toxic ideology and twisted people. And that everyone is an insane idiot doesn't change the fact that it is dangerous beyond measure. Any attempts to describe this interlocking systems quickly descend into madness not just because of ops discrediting things, but also the facts are insane and incoherent. I think that's why I don't like the word cabal. Pedophilia is so much more common in average people than the mainstream will ever admit, and it stands to reason that it is much more common among the rich. I mean, until very recently there wasn't even any attempts to hide it; even just in the 90s it was celebrated and glamorized when a rich person was a pedophile, and you still get rich people "joking" about it all the time. At this point above a certain net worth my default assumption is that they are either a pedophile or know people who are - kinda like ACAB. I think it's less that there's a cabal and more than rich people social circles tend to be very limited to their class, but geographically wide and quite tight-knit. Rich people absolutely love handing money to other rich people, and all sorts of favours, and they all love going to the same parties. You add a revolving door between intelligence, government and capital and you've got yourself a system that doesn't need to be a secretive organization to be riddled with powerful pedophiles and their enablers.

it’s impossible to recognize how disconnected from their own govt most people are. where even is an opportunity for anyone to learn about their own country’s foreign policy? I think that’s the best chance to open someone’s eyes. I’d be surprised if most Canadians had any idea how much of the world’s mining companies we house and cater to, let alone the constant humanitarian and environmental crises they purposefully commit. it’s just as hard to get most anyone to recognize that our deputy pm has done everything in and beyond her power to support the neo nazi regime in ukraine. it’s just “support for ukraine”. it’s just “supporting women’s rights in Ethiopia”. Haiti they don’t even try to hide it but no one cares. at best, it’s confusing and there’s domestic safety in acquiescing the unspoken (sometimes spoken) assumption that it is a “backwards” country. it’s a fight against a constant PR campaign that fosters the assumption that foreign countries are naive and uncivilized or evil and authoritarian, with no publicly promoted channels for opposition.

Maybe the real pedophiles were the friends we made along the way. It's hosed up and genius at the same time that the entire current world zeitgeist has been set up so that discussing the elite cabal gets you labeled antisemitic, and discussing how discussing the normalization of "the aristocrats!" among society gets you labeled a pedophile. crack. ping.
