Waiting on my Banana trees to mature to do the altar and Island Obelisk. Mr Qi challenges look like a pain in the arse. Not sure if I want to grind away to Gold Clock and Return Scepter.

It's not really that bad if you have a farm set up for decent money production to start with. I made about 1 to 1.5M per season, mostly not having to do anything during the days except go screw around in the skull cave or wherever. If you went with more of a fun inefficient farm it might take a while.

I have two deluxe coops now. My original has 5 chickens, 3 ducks, and 3 rabbits. The new one is empty. I'm definitely not investing more in rabbits. Between those three and one sheep I am swimming in wool at the rate I use it.

I'm torn between more chickens and more ducks, and I'm leaning toward chickens for more daily eggs. Despite mayo selling for less than duck mayo, it sells for more than half the value of.duck mayo, meaning if I can sell two mayos for every one duck mayo, I'm going to earn more money. Is my early morning logic sound on this?

Ducks are better if you like less clicks. Only need to process half as many eggs as with chickens, and actually less when they drop duck feathers, which admittedly sell for less than the duck mayo (unless you're not artisan for some reason).

I got lucky enough to find a dino early in year one which I keep around because it is adorable. But they give the impression that they are just terrible to have for traditional coop animal reasons, even if you are lucky enough to get one in the first place.

If I was at the point I hated dealing with coops so much as to fill it entirely with dinosaurs, I might as well just have another barn instead. (Unless you meant void chickens? Which are still every single day, if one egg type)

EDIT: Also as a filthy year 2 newbie, I figure it is worth clarifying when people say "Less clicks" for Chickens vs X it is NOT the times per week that is the bigger deal. It is the fact as much as I like my normal chickens, four loving types of basic chicken eggs across multiple star grades is a lot more fiddly to shove into the mayo machines than Duck/Void/Dino eggs. Though my mouse wheel is kind of janky so that doesn't help.

But yeah, they're cool because they're loving dinosaurs but they're by far the least profitable animal since they only lay eggs once a week.

While I can understand trying to maintain the joys of a spoiler free experience in the relaxing farm game, as I've been trying to lay off keeping a wiki open in my lap except to double check bundle quirks myself?

Dinosaurs are one of those things that if you don't mention them, odds are good they might never find them naturally for ages unless they are incredibly lucky, at which point playing coy about "There is another kind of coop animal!" is just tormenting the new guys.

Down came the glitches and burned us in ditches and we slept after eating our dead.
I do think Void Chickens are the best after dinosaurs, both because they are cool and also because like dinosaurs, they only produce one type of egg, instead of four different types like regular chickens do.

Dinosaurs are nice for low effort because you can basically stop in once a season to handle the eggs and you're good. Also they are awesome.

I know you said you don't want more rabbits but Rabbit's feet are really good and you can't have too many. You need at least 2 for quests/CC and they are a universally loved item. Drop rate can be anemic at times but that's why you get more rabbits.

I've found duck feathers way easier to get than rabbits feet - I usually have half a dozen ducks by the end of year 1, while I often don't even bother getting more than 1-2 rabbits at some point further down the line.

Urgh. I hate this island. Just need one more snake part to finish the archeology and the super helpful hint is that it's on the west side, I pretty much gave up guessing right away and checked the wiki and it says to dig up artifact spots. Easy enough. WRONG! I've been going there daily for over a month and I've had an average of one spot a week in the entire farm with beach area and all of those were just trash geodes and island seeds. What am I supposed to do with all of these omnigeodes anyway? Or all these mango and banana saplings? I cannot honestly be bothered to open that many of them anymore. Dedicate a shed to geode openers? Yeah, no.

I did get 100 walnuts (the creepy old gungan had more than I expected) and it's.... Q. Of course it is that annoying smug poo poo. Oh you have challenges on that screen and you can see how much I'm going to love them? Yeah I took a look and I hate them because they looked super grindy and one seemed luck based so not in any way fun. Wow I can get a secondary currency that is only valid in this one place and everything is very expensive? Please just go back to your exploiting casino so I can forget you exist.

The game is not feeling very chill anymore. It's not like I've been playing nonstop, only an hour or so a day. Taking another break to play something else would be a good idea.

What's Picontier.

Littlewood is pretty relaxing, but the further you get in the game, the grindier it gets. To marry someone you have to buy an item that costs 25,000 monies when ~1,000 monies a day is doing really well even mid-late game.

BOTW is probably even more chill out and do whatever than SDV cause there's no timer for anything. You just dick around doing whatever and progress happens.

Most of the Qi quests are bogus, but I can recommend the "dangerous mines" one. If you beat it you get a button to enable the danger mines permanently, and the danger mines are pretty great.

Also I used the Qi gems to buy the biggest aquarium and now my living room is full of squid. :3:

I liked the Qi Fruit quest. I thought it was a fun challenge trying to maximize the amount I could farm. It is pretty expensive in terms of opportunity cost though, since you end up missing out on a lot of cash crops.

As for the rewards, I think he's got some items that are completely worth the effort, like the horse whistle, heavy tapper recipe, and pressure nozzles.

Junimo chests are great, but I really don't know why they're limited to 9 item slots. That makes absolutely no sense to me.

The hopper seems handy but its kinda meh without a way to automatically collect the output from the machines. I use Automate anyway so I haven't bothered with hoppers.

Think of what you might find on a tropical island that is known for having a hard, almost impossible to break shell but which people want to get inside, possibly because they find it tasty... then a golden version of that...

the first Golden Coconut you get Clint to crack open is guaranteed to have a golden walnut inside

I got an official verbal warning for recommending X-COM 2 to someone once.

Mostly because about a year earlier I'd recommended X-COM 1 to the local IT systems techie (He was mostly into Counterstrike at that point, so he was fairly reluctant to switch), and he ended up getting obsessed about it to the point that he apparently ended up spending hours after midnight crafting intricate backstories and customising his troops before sending them into the meat grinder. The logical conclusion was that he ended up constantly nodding off at work, eventually leading him to jokingly blame me for dealing him the gamer equivalent of crack cocaine.

His superiors took it a little more seriously than that, apparently because one of the senior guys (Dude's like 55) had had a similar experience with X-COM and said it wasn't too far from the truth. It was brushed off until I nonchalantly mentioned to both him and the senior a year later that the sequel was coming out in about a week, with predictable results a month later. Again, I got fingered. Didn't get away with it that time.
