I found this audiobook of Neuromancer tucked away on an old drive, I never realised how well I knew the story up until I listened to the first chapter and could pretty much tell you what the next line would be at any point Also the guy doing the narrating sounds a bit like Sam from the Sam & Max games, which I guess works for the noir connection. edit: lol gets to the end of the first mp3 This chapter is continued on side two of cassette one, please turn the cassette over now before CD audiobooks even. I think there was something recently saying beef wasn't inherently bad as long as it wasn't intensively farmed Ii..e of you discount the majority of consumption that's based around cheap meat. So essentially what I, a white middle class man buying organic grass fed steak, do is fine, what you do when you buy a happy meal is wrong. actually though I eat way less meat than I used to, partly because my wife is mostly vegetarian and its just easy to do the same most of the time. quorn mince is absolutely fine and so are the quorn pieces.

It's factory farming taking it to "environmental catastrophe", but if you're using land you could grow grains or legumes on you're still loving up.

Lot of listening to be had here, though I'm not usually one for audiobooks - I can't do other tasks like work and listen to a book at the same time and have any of the info actually go into my head, I have to concentrate on just the book.

I've tried reading my copy of Neuromancer like... 5? Times? But every time around I end up glazing over all the words I can't figure out definitions to, and then I realise I misread or misparsed some critical word and that my entire mental image of the book and the events were wrong and I have to re-read it. At which point I get exhausted and put it down. I really, really want to like it

otoh it was pretty stupid to sample a rolling stones song to start with (afaik there is nothing "similar" about the sample, its from an orchestra performance of a rolling stones song). hard time feeling very sorry for anyone here.

looks like they contracted with the record label to sample part of the song then used more than they had contracted for, which yeah, is exactly the kind of gently caress up that gets music industry lawyers excited

The Rolling Stones also made their fortune on the back of riffs they stole from old blues musicians without paying any royalties, so they're doing all they can to pull up the ladder and make sure nobody can do the same to them.

i do sometimes wonder if sampling would be such a legal minefield and revenue generating opportunity if the first big lawsuits about it weren't over rap songs, cause of our racists courts and thinking rap isn't music and whatnot
