So combining the anime scenes this week and spoilers in the manga...Code is the other vessel candidate (there were 15 candidates and 13 died in that one flashback)? I re-read the ending of Naruto, and for all the failings of the later arcs, the power creep, and the increasing focus on DNA combinations and augmented magical eyes, I really do like how the story came together at the end and think the fight between Sasuke and Naruto worked really well. No matter how lovely Boruto might be at points, I'm always gonna be fundamentally happy that the ending was like that.

Chapter's out at the usual places. Kurama's dead, possibly permanently? It's hard to tell, but given the circumstances are different from the other times Bijuus "died", it's possible. Then again, this is Naruto, and it's pretty rare for someone to die permanently. New villain looks kind of boring, to be honest, and I'm not particularly interested in what he does, I'd just like for the story to move over what exactly made Kawaki and Boruto fight each other, but eh.

I would lean towards really dead since if Kurama's chakra was all used up there isn't really anything for him to revive from. Me and half the internet win the "No Prize" for Code. RIP Isshiki. Hopefully Code inherits your wine drinking style. Really curious how all of this leads to chapter 1.

I'm in the camp that Kurama isn't dead yet. That didn't feel like a final goodbye. There must be residual chakra somewhere, maybe the Ten Tails that Code is raising? Code finally factoring into the story makes sense in retrospect. He's a blank canvas for Naruto and Sasuke's power reset. But drat, Kara is a disaster of an organization.

Yeah, I think Kurama and the Rinengan eventually come back, but for the next several years (both IRL and in manga) we're dealing with like start-of-great-war power levels for Naruto and Sasuke. Which is still high, but no longer Literally loving Gods. I like that.

I thought the goodbye was quite well done. Of course, that now means that Sasuke ranks for above Naruto in power. He needed Kurama to keep up with the eyehax and while Rinnegan is gone. The Eternal Mangekibla is still in his other eye. Let's not pretend that Sasuke had a big nerf with his Rinnegan gone. He still has his Itachi's eye in the other socket.

So at this point does Naruto still have access to the sage of the six paths powers from the end of the previous series? He did heal Kakashi's eye near the end of the ninja war, if he still has them I'd assume Sasuke's rinnegan could probably be healed.

Considering Konoha managed to make new arms and Orochimaru implanted a bunch of sharingans in Danzo, I doubt it's gonna be a huge hurdle, but I feel like neither of them will go back to the end of the War power levels, at least for a while. Granted, it's pretty obvious those power levels weren't designed with a sequel in mind, because in basically every fight, Sasuke and Naruto use about 1/10th of the arsenal they have at their disposal.

The anime busted out their A+ animation for today’s episode. Only weird thing was that Konohamaru suddenly started looking more like his manga counterpart. Looks like they’re following the manga and will be interspersing anime only content to flesh things out. Next week looks like it’ll be good, will give Sumire some stuff to do thankfully.
