Captain Monkey posted:The second has literally double the syllables of the first. Yeah, so you draw out the letters instead of powering through the same line with the words. You can get them pretty close in terms of timing with the music.

That’s not what a cadence is. ‘If you draw the letters out to fit the time of the second song it can last as long’ is just a thing you made up, like just go listen to the two songs they’re both on YouTube.

A version of the matching meters thing that actually works out is Emily Dickenson poems and The Yellow Rose of Texas. Because I could not stop for Death – He kindly stopped for me – The Carriage held but just Ourselves – And Immortality.

A really minor one, but I've somehow had the physical appearances of the video game designers Sid Meier and Will Wright reversed in my head for most of my life. Will Wright just really looks like a Sid, I guess.

I've just recently discovered the band Racer X, who are very, VERY much my jam. Besides the fact that that I can't believe I've just figured out that a a band that started one year before I was born is absolutely and completely my kind of music, I thought that "bolt in my heart" was probably a love song, something about his heart being pierced by a crossbow bolt (maybe shot by Cupid?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPG0w0tEcik No, the song's just about cars. It would be the kind of bolt that holds pieces of metal together.
