Could do with some quick guidance- how the gently caress do I raise gross behaviour in a workplace? I've been at this place for 3 months now, a few days away from probation. We just had an ice breaker session where we had to 'draw our life stories' Someone in their life story said they moved careers from chef to waiter and responded jokingly 'was the sex change mandatory' The head of ops/ HR (lol) then later joked following on from that that their girlfriend was from thailand, and obviously you know what they're implying by that based on the previous joke How the gently caress do I raise something like that? It's quite clearly a boys club. Thinking of telling my manager and trying to be as civil as possible, but that if things continue in this way it's not a culture I want to be part of. I know I sound like a coward but I don't want to jeopardize my job, I need the financial security.

What the hell is the "large immobile gamete" thing from? I keep hearing it and I have no idea what it means unless you are a big egg and parliament lost the majority of its high profile eggs in the corbyn years.

What did people think koeths previous job was if not to sign off on state crimes and atrocities? That's why he was selected to kill labour to facilitate a new crime against democracy In 30 years it'll be revealed he was a plant and people will go "oh"

Maybe that's the real propaganda I've absorbed though, where anything good is Liz being Wise, and anything bad is some weaselly flunky doing stuff in the background. Either way, wish them all a happy

Problem is Labour are also talking about being "fiscally responsible" while not raising taxes, which is even closer to Osborne style austerity than Sunak I reckon Dodds get canned after the May elections assuming the results are bad (and maybe even if they aren't) and I wouldn't be surprised to see a shift in Labour rhetoric on the economy. OTOH it seems like Labour have proper backed themselves into a corner and would officially be flailing if they try another "reset" so soon.

Labour going down the tubes is just fine, what are people gonna do? Build another party? Obviously the main goal is control of the labour party since we had a brief excess of democracy that got quickly dealt with but not without coming close to upsetting the status quo and making them get out of bed. The ideal is that nobody can even try to vote for someone who isn't aligned with the ruling class. But destruction of labour as a political force is okay too, it would just result in a few splinter parties that can't oppose the tories and the remaining parties are under control already.

Set aside political alignment, this budget is pretty much what most progressives would be after (within the limits of what is realistic). Fund a big package of stimulus spending through capital gains, corporation tax, pensions, inheritance tax etc and done in a way designed not to hit small or struggling businesses, and freeze most of the regressive taxes like VAT, duties, etc.

Speaking of the royals, there's a massive scrum of reporters outside Barts today. I saw sat vans for CNN, NBC and RT and lost count at 20 photographers/videographers, and there are satellite vans from three continents news channels parked all over the loving place. I assumed something must have happened as at least three live OBs seemed to be happening, but I guess it was just live reports on Big Phil still not being officially dead for the midday news? Utter insanity, it must be costing tens of thousands of pounds a day to keep people stationed outside a hospital where they will *definitely* not be the first to hear if he dies or gets better, just weird cargo-cult journalism, so they can say "we now go live to..." someone who just reads out the email that the press office sent the news room. (I know this is the case for almost all television news - it was just particularly odd to see them all and realise they've been there for at least 3 days and most of them had probably been hanging around the other hospital for a week - even odder that for some reason they're all outside the KGV Building which is... probably not where he is (it's where the specialist cardiac wards are, but I bet he's in one of the older buildings for security reasons because there's no way they can partition off a room/ward for him in the modern building without loving everything up) completely blocking both pavements on a pretty busy road, rather than being outside the much more telegenic and roomy Smithfield entrance (where Benedict Cumberbatch jumped off in Sherlock; the phone box there has more tearful memorials than the William Wallace monument around the corner). I assume they think it's a more dramatic shot or something because there's always red buses and black taxis driving past)

The personal allowance is going to be frozen at £12,570, unless you think that anyone earning over £13k is living the high life then it is absolutely and definitely regressive, because it affects the poor in a way that richer people won't notice.
