It's not exactly the same thing, but it's a bit like saying, "Well I don't need a stimulus check; I'm doing fine during this pandemic. So all those wage slaves working at McDonald's should get along without a check too". The only difference is that it's slapping "It's science!" onto their own bigotry, which never fails to make me furious (which is probably the point).
