There’s almost nothing better than watching Jordan Cox destroy V8’s across the top of Mt Panorama in his EG. Incredible talent, full send the entire time. I believe the Celica in the second video is also 1UZ swapped too. https://youtu.be/N81cEqZEDVQ https://youtu.be/WXPEJVHsi_k We only got the J body here from 82-89 as the Holden Camira. I haven’t seen one on the road in 15 years probably.

The Holden Camira does not belong anywhere near this thread. I learned to drive in one, the firewall was cracked where the clutch pedal went through so the friction point was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Firewall cracks were incredibly common in those as well.

Oh god, yeah didn’t mean to imply any measure of awesomeness, just throwing in on J body chat. I should add we got plenty of Toyota badged 3rd gen Cavaliers as ex Japan imports. Don’t see them around any more either. Not sure what was a worse joke on poor Japanese buyers, those or the Honda badged LR Discovery.

My mates dad was a holden salesman in the 90s and I used to think it was cool how he got driven around in all these different coloured cars that smelt new Just how in the gently caress did people "hot up" front wheel drive holdens though? Geminis would have been fun to hot up at least, before they rusted

Not sure what GM's problems with steel was on those.

I'm in the same boat but I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be a hard sell against the Miata. At around $20k, you only need to go another $5k for an ND which is overall a much better car for the money. That said, the S660 is some of the most fun I've had in a car. Whether going a mere 25mph on some mountain roads or maxing out at 85mph just trying to keep up with traffic, it's just a goddamn hoot. On second thought, yeah I'd probably buy one too.

Nah I'd do what I'd need to to get one new. I know sales speak more to a car company more than hype and good PR. If that's what it takes to keep/introduce fun cars in the US that's what it takes.
