So how does the child tax credit work exactly since I'm seeing a lot of what I assume is misinformation regarding its efficiency. The way that it only suddenly started getting press when the minimum wage increase flopped and every Democrat is saying it's the greatest thing in a hundred years makes it seem very heavily that it's the straw they are clinging to as most of the rest of this bill is not very exciting for the average person, especially if you've been means tested out of the check. It's also a convenient "why are you complaining do you hate kids?" avenue of attack. It does seem pretty weird that the most progressive bill in modern history is totally invisible if you don't have kids and made a bit too much money last year.
