That reminds me: I currently have a load of renal cat food, a large bag of litter & an outdoor "cat house" in the back of my car as the woman who I'm a carer for's cat died over the weekend so I took it all away to make it a bit easier for her. Guessing a sanctuary wouldn't have any need for the house, & it'd probably cost more in postage for everything else than it would to just buy fresh stuff - but, the house itself probably cost a bit, so if anyone wants it I could probably stuff the food inside (not sure the litter would fit), wrap it up & post it? I don't mind covering the postage if anyone's in need, or if you feel like paying it forward just chuck some money to whatever charity you want (or Jaeluni's thing) e: actually now I look at it the renal cat food costs a bomb so I'll probably just send that to the shelter, as I guess they'll have some cats with kidney trouble. Jaeluni, could you PM me an address for them if you think they'll want it? Still happy to sent the cat house to whomever Borrovan fucked around with this message at 13:06 on Mar 9, 2021 |

Paying for a cat seems unnecessary when you can just rent a timeshare in a local cat by bribing them with snacks. I've got 2 identical looking lads who patrol the walls around our gardens every hour or so, one after the other. Sometimes they just hang around at our back door waiting to be fed. There's a serious shortage of the bio refills for aquarium CO2 feeders, as I found out last week. The only one I could find to order refunded me the next day, as I didn't realise they were in Belfast. Everywhere else is out of stock. Strange how the manufacturers are German. Local Majestics Wine was a desolate wasteland til about 10 days ago too, and they still aren't getting a regular supply in either, not that it's much to do with pets.

Paying for cats is both insane AND immoral imo. There's no way people should be profiting from breeding cats; either they're just moggies so like... where's the value? or they're pedigrees, in which case, stop encouraging eugenics and inbreeding, you weirdo.

If you want multiple cats it's always better to have siblings so they get along better and are less stressed, which is hard to get from an adoption centre. In fact bringing two adult cats who don't know each other (and may or may not have had a traumatic experience) into a new home at the same time is almost definitely not going to be fun for the cats involved. People who own a cat who's had kittens have incurred costs for vets/food etc so it's not unreasonable to charge something for them, but these recent prices look insane compared to what they were in the past.

Two of my cats were rescued from our neighbourhood- Bobby was living in a Wendy house in next door’s garden because he didn’t get on with kids, or men or anything due to an abusive upbringing, and Rosa turned up yelling at my door last summer (as I’m sure a lot of you remember). Digby admittedly was a pedigree Maine coon, but we’d just lost our previous rehomed MC and really wanted another giant fluffy arsehole in our lives. We took great care to make sure his genetics weren’t a Gordian knot of cat incest, and as far back as we could find there’s been no interbreeding. He was our first wedding anniversary present to each other, the runt of his litter. Poor boy has anxiety and IBS due to issues with his mum (her milk dried up when he was still tiny- this was in the super hot summer of 2018). But given I have those same issues.. yeah. They are all dearly loved. Rosa rules our household and Bob is super-bonded to my wife and hates everyone and everything else. Here they are providing valuable help* with building some IKEA furniture *Not help at all, made the whole thing take twice as long.

Please do not buy dogs and cats from breeders, do not encourage breeders, do not encourage people who buy from breeders. My little brother bought a dachsund from a breeder, but it was practically a rescue as he was previously their stud and they were looking to retire him as he was 'losing interest.' Look deep within your local adoption place and you too may find a Friend and Boy.

I think it says a lot more about the person writing those type of pieces than they'd like to believe. You're well within your rights to tell me to gently caress off after spending the last year bitching about people still in the Labour Party, but the Labour Holyrood candidate for Glasgow Kelvin has been removed as the candidate because she supports independence. Furthermore, the Scottish Executive Committee intend to impose a candidate. So if you're still a Labour member, & want to see a socialist candidate not get shitcanned for not agreeing with the party leaders on a constitutional issue, sign the entirely pointless petition: https://twitter.com/KelvinLabour/status/1369283490114572294?s=20 It's seems pretty loving shoddy behaviour from ScotLab, which is to be expected at this point, but what stands out is it's loving pointless. Labour actually finished 3rd in this constituency in 2016. But to leapfrog the SNP & Greens, you'd think they'd realise having a pro-indy candidate in a constituency that voted 60% to leave the union wouldn't be the worst idea. But no, ScotLab are incapable of learning.
