We have a Toto Sazana unit bath with Eco Cute water heater and the floor is soft and we can fill the bath while showering it's  This year we also added a wall-mounted heater/fan to the changing area. Life is good.

The bathroom had a big tub with no shower head over it. Then there was a hose with a shower head that you use to rinse yourself off before you actually get into the tub. I never really used the tub because it was three of us sharing the place and taking a long soak wasn't really fair. Also, we'd get home so late at night, we'd just want to shower and immediately go to sleep. So I'd just use the hose/showerhead. Which should have been fine, but the fact the drain was just in the floor of the bathroom rather than its own little blocked off area meant the floor was always wet and gross and just...  Yeah, I just wanted a regular shower...closet...thing? A Western style shower. The next time I go, it'll just be the wife and I, so taking baths will be more doable, but I'll still make sure I look for a place that has a standalone shower option as well. Oh, and the place had a second toilet in case one was occupied that was literally in a little closet. Said toilet had a faucet built into the tank. It was fine, but kind of awkward to use. Can't say I was a fan of the faucet/sink feature. But yes, the washlet/bidet parts of the toilets are amazing.

I literally took a video of the unit bath in one of the hotels because I was so enamored and wanted to figure out how to get one in America. I now own a home and lol at ever getting that poo poo done here. I am trying to find a washlet and even that seems pretty difficult.

Yep that’s standard for non-shoebox apartments. Plastic-y flooring alongside the separate tub. Usually they’ll have a fan you can turn on (same reason/use as US) and often that fan has a “clothes drying” mode so you can hang laundry inside (useful!). You guys probably missed that panel.

Yeah, I like the concept of the Japanese wet room. But the reality (especially if you are the one that has to clean it) is not so great. That said I am fully on board with the enclosed showers I’ve seen in some hotels and apartments I’ve stayed at. Keep all that steam and water contained. Can turn the shower into a sauna if I’m so inclined.

I like early March, the weather is pleasant and the plum blossoms are out. I'd love to visit for Christmas though, I'm a night owl who really really loves everything decorate din lights, so wandering the streets after dark looking at all the pretty lights sounds pretty awesome to me. I'd never visit in summer, if I'm going to have to deal with those kinds of temperatures I'd go back to Borneo and go sweat to death in a rainforest.

...if the most important criteria is having Olympics so that NBC gets their TV programming, you do that with domestic fans only because you know they should understand how things have been in the country. When tickets went on sale they were massively oversubscribed, so while that was pre-pandemic, there should still be demand to put butts in seats. I don’t see how you go from zero tourists to hosting an Olympics the way they’ve always been inside of four months. This seems like the only way to get NBC their TV show.
