I've never seen someone get belligerent over it, but the assholes usually take it out on "big government" and don't say poo poo to us.

As a long time PROFESSIONAL union firefighter, we DONT give out tickets and are just what is listed in the meme. If someone has an illegal burn we just say hey we know this rule is dumb but put it out please, then go back to helping people.

My personal opinion of cops is exceptionally low.

My professional opinion of cops is astonishingly low and full of profanity and appeals to vengeful gods for blood restitution.

My only experience with the police comes from watching the first 25 minutes of Terminator 2 and I gotta be honest they seem almost robot like in their dealings with the public. Although that cop whooped the poo poo out of the other dude. What a bad rear end

Highlights: cops picking fights for not moving the engine protecting a highway MVC scene (which are parked that way so we / others don't get killed) (see edit), cops arriving on scene first and throwing open windows or doors "to help", cops assaulting our patients, cop arresting me because I chewed his out for rolling my patient I was holding c-spine for to snatch his wallet (my chief is besties with his chief lol), dumbass cop driving over our hoseline while we have a crew in a 2 story house fire, at least a dozen incidents with cops making mental health emergencies much worse, dumbfuck rookie cop trying to arrest my patient for a traffic offense when we're trying to get to the hospital (he coded en route), etc, etc, etc.

TL;DR: I'd rather have 500 rubberneckers and a news crew on any given emergency scene than a cop who doesn't have any background in fire/ems. The cops who moonlight as EMTs or volleys aren't entirely the worst.

e: Georgia state troopers are cool though because they have a rapport with us and won't hesitate to go shithouse on a sheriff deputy and get him fired over his dangerous tantrum
