Where does that 8,500 number come from, anyway. I don't believe that for a second.

Well, as far as I can tell the number probably originates with San Francisco's "Homeless Point in Time Count Reports" quote:Every two years the City of San Francisco conducts a HUD-mandated census of the homeless population. The Point in Time Count methodology has improved over the years and includes a visual assessment of people living unsheltered in San Francisco, a census of all shelter and transitional housing programs, and a survey of people experiencing homelessness. We combine these sources to produce the Point in Time Count Reports. The basis of this method is essentially that the city gets broken into a grid, people patrol their section and count all the people they see who appear to be homeless. It's more complicated than that and they acknowledge it is flawed in ways, but it's also a mandated reporting method so they do it every two years. Link to PIT reports

But Democrats are responsible for neither of those? Nor for the metal detectors to enter Congress. Nor even for TSA? Let me guess, they think a democrat was responsible for "Caution, contents may be hot". How about, "Caution, voting republican will result in forced births followed by child death due to lack of care for citizens ".

I swear to god if WW2 happened today we'd loving lose because nobody would want to lose their freedoms by even making small sacrifices for the greater good. Having to wear a mask and standing 6 feet apart is soooo much harder than rationing gas to 2 gallons a week. quote:During the war, the federal government imposed rations on such things as butter, sugar, coffee, canned fruits and vegetables, meat and canned milk, using a point system imposed on all grocery stores. "Tyranny", I say but also "support the troops!" and claiming to be a patriot. The covid 19 death toll all but matches the number of Americans killed in World War II, Korea and Vietnam combined.

Seeing a lot of hot takes about people concern trolling trans people competing in HS sports and also the notorious idea of teen suicides suddenly being a problem due to schools being closed. And the consistent pattern I've seen in both is that no large scale effort seems to be put into asking the kids themselves how they feel about these issues. Have there been any polls in this regard? If chuds are so sure they are right then the kids would back them up about it. They'd be blowing up tiktok about it and so on. A mutual friend has a zoomer daughter and I often pick her brain about these topics though even in that case I worry she's just trying to tell me what I want to hear since I'm probably the most strident leftist she talks to. But in my case it's not because I'm seeking validation from a young person but because I'm genuinely curious of their opinions. The zoomers I know cover a wide range of opinions- from her being fairly leftist working in a nonprofit, to my zoomer younger brother who treats trans people as a circus freakshow and joined the military in the hopes of being a cop when he gets out.

It's like forming a club of people that got banned from public transit. This allows them to avoid key terms, and also know exactly what they can report and get results from. It turns out that "ignorant" is a trigger word, so be careful when using it. Context: one of the Capitol rioters claimed to be a libertarian and all the libertarians were arguing that she isn't a real libertarian. I took the counter position and claimed that she was the REAL libertarian and that they need to study more, along with some other posts teasing them for making such an obvious No True Scottsman argument.

We had my daughter’s 9th birthday party with family today. Pretty tame (I was worried that my sister may go off because she had/has bought into the Trump is still President conspiracy theories) but my brother in law did go on an rant about how he, as a white male Christian, he is the biggest minority in the country. He also told his 15 year old son that going to college just to get a degree is stupid because you leave college with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt for a degree in basket weaving. He also talked about how none of his coworkers drink Coca Cola now since they are white people and Coke does not want white people drinking it. For the most part though, everyone just kind of ignored that poo poo.

There have been thousands of extra death certificates issued each week for over a year. SOMEthing has been killing lots of Americans, so you have to explain why hundreds of extra people are dying in car crashes each week for over a year.

Actually the Bible explicitly lays out what the folks did to cause those things! The great flood was caused by humans loving angels, and the cities destroyed by fire (I assume that means Sodom and Gomorrah) were full of people who did not help the poor and needy and mistreated foreigners. And on that second one, we're past close, we've been there for decades! I do agree God is watching the Republican party with total disgust though.
