If you don't take a photo of your odo hitting 69,420 while going 69 mph, you're doing it wrong.

Color scheme on those remind me of the cheap lidl cutting discs. They suck. Best ones are 3M Cubitron II. But Mirka has a pretty good cutting disc too that you get 10x in a tin for a decent price.

Looking at how far the gently caress back those cars are I'm wondering what's in that truck. There has to be some kind of extra hazard there to prevent people just walking up with a shitload of fire extinguishers. Given the dirt road with multiple visible semis also suspecting that it's way the gently caress out in the bush/backwoods somewhere (like, supplying a mine or oil rig in BF Nowhere, Alaska or something) and the water plane was the only other option besides just letting it burn out. Which, as you said, probably wasn't attractive due to the potential of creating a wildfire.

Yeah there are places like for instance in southern europe where there are forest fires basically every summer and I could see them bringing a canadair down on a truck in these places out of abundance of precautions

Also, USFS air arm/CalFire air arm gets an astonishing amount of money to keep a tanker ready during fire season and tbh, you gotta justify just how much all that poo poo costs somehow.

Military expenditure is easy to justify: there are billions of humans on this planet and currently deployable US armies are just not up to the task of completely exterminating each and every one in a feasible time frame! even modelling the effects of every single weapon of mass destruction, there's just no guarantees that some small groups might not survive for YEARS or possibly DECADES afterwards in various shelters.

And then I imagined them having to depressurize and repressurize ISS to clear the accidental discharge.

Much worse, a bullet or series of bullets is just a micrometeor impact. The station is designed to take those kind of hits.
