Persona 3 was one of the most drudgery filled games Ive ever attempted to play twice.

Kingdom Hearts 3 has the weirdest goddamn dialog pauses that I genuinely checked to see if something was wrong with my copy then quit when no, thats how it was gonna be.

Not poo poo posting for once. Persona 5 is a great game. I enjoyed the characters, the writing and the atmosphere. The art style is anime but seemed to have its own flair, although I don't really watch or care for much anime, cause anime.

But holy poo poo they couldn't hurt it by cutting like thirty loving hours. Especially in the Royal edition. Like gently caress me, you can only seemingly hit the ending so many times before it gets tiresome. Even cutting 30 hours would make it a Long As gently caress Game(TM).

For Real!
I hate describing games as boring, most videogames are not actively boring. I've not played a game and thought "I'm bored" anywhere near as much as I've thought "i have access to a more fun videogame I'd rather play".

You can say a lot of things about Kingdom Hearts and Persona, but they're not boring games. In Persona 3, the characters summon their Personas by putting guns in their mouths and pulling the trigger (the guns are called 'evokers'). Kingdom Hearts features Goofy and Donald Duck hanging out with with Squall from Final Fantasy 8 as if it's the most natural thing to do. I spent most of my play time of both games just wondering how the gently caress they even got made.

Honestly yeah, but in fairness I didn't actually play the game, I just sort of watched it as a friend played. Seemed pretty decent. Nice change from America McShootymans. It was a story about teenagers saving people's hearts in a magical world, I just sort of rolled with it.

I've never beaten a persona game. I'll pick them up and play them until I find something else. Persona 5 was really good, but it was a lot of game.

P5 lost me in one of the between target times where you just hit next through repetitive dialogues for a few hours with no actual choices to make or dungeons to run.

Stephen’s Sausage Roll started off great and then the Tower loving ruined it. I’ve never seen such a vertical wall of a learning curve. Why on earth wouldn’t they just gradually introduce the mechanics needed to solve it?

Kingdom Hearts 3 is apparently the one that even Kingdom Hearts fans actually hate because it supposedly tries to bring in all the points of a plot that resembles a spider's web and technically does so but manages to be really tedious and boring and fucks up even the stuff that games are normally supposed to be good at. All the Disney stuff ends up almost entirely vestigial to what amounts to a third-rate anime about pretty boys hitting each other with sticks.

KOEI really needs to do more historical dynasty warriors like this. zelda and anime is alright i guess, but i want to personally slaughter a thousand gauls as Julius Caesar or burn up roman soldiers with Archimedes heat ray :black101:

Playing Fallout 3 after Oblivion.......

It's very obvious that all the firearms are just rejiggered spell effects. It feels like a total conversion mod for Oblivion. I enjoyed the game, but the fact that it's literally just reskinned Oblivion was always at the back of my mind.

While that's true, Japanese takes on Western genres can be really interesting for what they expose and for looking at things in new ways. Dark Souls is like a hosed up D&D source book half remembered on flu meds. Metal Gear Solid is way more fun than any actual hoo-rah Tom Clancy guns and spies poo poo.

This was what drew me to the series. It was very cool seeing modern military and espionage poo poo get mixed up with myths and the supernatural. Ace Combat comes close to that itch too but they never go anywhere with it and it ends up being jet-porn for jet-nerds.

Japanese games aren't above melodrama told and acted in hilarious ways. But it only works when it's trying to be a realistic setting and not anime.

How about a medieval era hack n slash that controls like Skate except instead of having to build up speed on a skateboard you have to build up speed because you are wearing a ridiculous amount of armor that makes you have considerable momentum and you just kinda run at enemies and do tricks like you would for a kickflip or whatever except in this game it fluidly does some poo poo like grab a dipshit mook by the throat and slam them around, or like every mook on the stage counts as a rail you can grind and you just jump up and plant your foot on their chest and drag their dumb rear end

Yeah this new game is a similar surreal style. It's kind of shame that with the technology we have to develop games these days more developers don't go wild instead of making realistic world number 2 billion.
