Just attached to nerve endings, surely? They're stiff so that the sensation travels down the whisker to the nerves? Though I imagine cutting them would be very uncomfortable still. Note: I have never cut my cat's whiskers.

I was going to nit-pick that Britain didn't have mask mandates during the 1918 flu - and in fact all face coverings and scarves were discouraged there for hygiene reasons - but in the process of due diligence I discovered that some American cities that did have mask mandates also used custodian helmets as part of their police uniforms until at least the 1910s. So possibly good research work here by Meddick?

It bothers me that Fiona, even though she's been shown to be careful with her new wealth and I think we're supposed to think the money hasn't changed her, still felt the need to build a huge palace in the first place.

I know Tove wrote Snorkmaiden getting jealous when someone else shows an interest in Moomin, but that usually happens after she's ditched him once or twice. It's a minor nitpick, but Lars writes Snorkmaiden a bit OOC.

Holbrook basically turned her into Richie Rich. We've seen her live frugally in modern K&K, so I guess Holbrook wrote her wealth away at some point. It's gonna be something exceptionally stupid, that's for sure.

Everything about the Lars Moomin feels slightly off-model.

It's like those mid-era Simpsons seasons where the episodes weren't terrible the way they are now, but they were clearly lesser works compared to the first half dozen seasons.
