DarkSoulsTantrum posted:Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved these: I've tried the Morningstar chipotle black bean burger and a few other types of their burgers/sausages. I don't know what it is about the Morningstar brand but it leaves this weird aftertaste that I absolutely hate. I honestly didn't notice it for the first burger or two but when I did I couldn't eat it at all anymore. I've tried Quorn, Beyond and Gardein and none of them had that weird aftertaste. It's like cumin but weird and horrible. Like licking old cumin off a dirty plate? The last time I brought some vegan chicken patties to work some bitch stole the whole unopened pack in less than 2 hours. You'd think that would be a low priority theft item but I guess not!!! Nobody touched my smartlife hot dogs. They were pretty good, like the diet coke of hot dogs.

I found the won-ton wrappers at the grocery store and I started making rangoon at home. Then I discovered that while the ingredients are very cheap, they are a fiddly pain in the rear end to stuff and fold/wrap . I'm baking them after giving them a spritz of oil, which works but you don't get that bubbly skin on the wonton. I've found it far easier to mix up some green onions, cream cheese and garlic (and show the bowl a picture of a crab like the cheap take out places around here) and use it like a dip for crackers.

It's been a while but since I was a kid having a mug of steaming hot bouillon has been something I've done while sick or as a wintertime comfort drink. Using a whole cube every time. I think it's been a couple years since I did this, but I'm sure I will again at some point.

CaptainSarcastic posted:The last time I saw my doctor I mentioned I was concerned about getting high blood pressure and was watching my sodium intake, and he was like "Meh, I wouldn't worry about salt." Sodium isn't a huge deal for most people. It is for some people. If you cut salt and then your food tastes bland so you use more sugar or fat it probably won't be helpful. If you have high blood pressure it's worth cutting sodium to see if that lowers it, to see if you are "salt sensitive". But if you don't yet have high blood pressure it probably won't do poo poo.

I tried a bullshot for the first time a few weeks ago: it's basically vodka and beef broth. It was... okay, but very salty / umami. I wouldn't have it again without, like, a side salad. Although when I was a kid, I would take a handful of those individually-wrapped bouillon cubes from the pantry before I ran off to go play in the woods all day. At the time, I was pretending that they were compressed meals, like those Jetsons dinner pills, but now I just wonder how I didn't have a heart attack at age ten.

Hot clam broth is actually pretty delicious, though hot lobster broth is the mvp in that arena. I kind of want to go to the hot chocolate/broth/tea bar just to see. So many mustaches, I would think.
