I guess the serious answers would be My Hero Academia, maybe One Punch Man or Mob Psycho 100, maybe FMA Brotherhood (although that gets pretty dark), DBZ Kai

Gurren Lagann would also be amazing although it gets risque at times

I should specify that she doesn't like violence much so rurouni kenshin is pretty much the limit in that regard for her as well.

I think I'll try either my hero academia or hare + guu next

seconding Mob Psycho 100, also consider some classics like original seasons (ie before the serieses with subtitles) of Naruto and Dragon Ball, and more or less any Miyazaki film

also for my joke entry i'm going for the vintage fantasy hentai Words Worth. sadly it has nothing to do with english poets.

e: also Tower of God. It only has one season so far, but the manwha is amazing, and you support a korean artist who is currently finally taking the time he needs off in order to not be permanently crippled by the work ethic from hell that is what is takes to succeed with only things like an original vision and genuine talent in korea

I am not current on this. It seemed to me though that it was going kind of Legend of Korra in terms of the villains kind of having a point and the protagonists not giving a gently caress. Is that fair, or did they veer off in a non-standard direction?

My recommendation: Galaxy Express 999. Movies are okay, TV series is incredible

"The Man Who Cannot Deadlift"

Seirei no Moribito. Mid fantasy show about an incredibly badass lady bodyguard who swore to save 8 lives to make up for 8 that were lost. Her last job ends up being to rescue the second crown prince who has found himself bearing a water spirit that will bring a great drought to the country, according to official state history. As a result he’s marked for death by the Emperor. It’s a primarily character-driven coming-of-age show about family, with the occasional really cool fight scene, some gorgeous supernatural poo poo, and a genuinely strong female protagonist who isn’t sexualized. To not spoil too much, it also has a happy ending

Everything good about the movies is better in the TV series, except the animation. Even the filler episodes pack some punch

There's been a running theme since almost the start that the hero society is not entirely solid in its foundation and has just as many (if not more) glory-seekers and greedy people trying to be heroes as there are people actually intending to do good. The main villain doesn't have a sympathetic goal, but a lot of the villainous characters on the bad guy team are shown to be people who got the way they were because they fell through society's cracks and didn't get the help they needed. They still do evil things, of course, but they have a camaraderie from being outcasts that have found a home together.

Another thing that's been recurring from the start is this idea that true heroes, the ideal that the main characters are aspiring to be, are those who save people. And it's been sort of assumed for the better part of the story that this means saving people and stopping villains but the most recent arcs are confronting the heroes with the thought that maybe sometimes the bad guys need saving too.

Late to the party but A Place Further Than The Universe is a very chill anime about a group of girls with differing motivations coming together as friends as the attempt to go/go to Antarctica. Content warnings for dead moms but not much else (it has been a minute since I watched it).
