Here in the UK it's gonna be on Sky Cinema/NowTV

I just discovered it's going to be on Now TV this morning from an ad on Twitter of all things.
I will have to check if it's going to be on the Entertainment package (like a TV show since it's four -one hour episodes) or the Movie package (since it's technically a movie.)
This is important as I stopped my movie package at the start of the month as I wasn't watching films but was watching lots of box sets so I kept the Entertainment package.

I think some people are going to watch it just to confirm that there wasn't, in fact, some hidden genius the theatrical version was missing. 4 years of "if Snyder had been able to finish the movie it would've been better than Infinity War" is something some might feel the need to disprove for themselves, or at the very least check.

It's really not a course of action I'd advise, personally. Watching a 4 hour movie you're pretty sure you won't like on the off chance it's secretly good, or just so you can confidently say it isn't, is not time or money well spent. I'm perfectly happy assuming the Robocop remake from 2014 is crap without actually watching it, for example.

Given critical reception right now I wonder if HBO has called up David Ayer yet and asked how much it would cost to re-cut Suicide Squad the way he originally intended, and if not, why not. From my understanding the work required would be far less extensive than what it was finishing Zack Snyder's Justice League. I guess the main problem is they have a soft reboot/sequel coming out later this year (a soft seaboot) and might think they would be competing with themselves.

Yeah it's greatest sin was that it was just okay. A perfectly ordinary and forgettable action movie that tried to take a half-hearted stab at saying "drones are bad, I guess" but without any of the satirical punch of the original.

It's not a patch on the original but it does have an absolutely incredible body horror scene and a few genuinely good satirical moments. It was always on a hiding to nothing though, the first film had the likes of Ronny Cox and Kurtwood Smith chewing up the scenery like there's no tomorrow while the bad guys in the remake are Just. So. Boring.

I missed the Batman and Robin talk, but my favorite thing about that movie was watching it with RiffTrax when they got to the Poison Ivy origin scenes. I sat there in anticipation, wondering if the guys from MST3K were going to sit through scenes with Dr. Woodrue without making even the slightest reference to him looking and acting exactly like Dr. Clayton Forrester.

Then as Woodrue started laughing maniacally: "And then I'll send a man into space and force him to watch bad movies!"

Also great is when Bane is being strapped down and they put the mask on him: "They're going to give him boxing gloves and force him to read emails!"

edit: And yeah, RoboCop 2014 was one or two rewrites away from being really good.

So I have watched the theatrical cuts of all the LOTR films and the extended version of Fellowship and the Two Towers. (In fact I'll probably go back and re-watch all the LOTR films again some day.)

From memory the extended version of Fellowship is fine, more of the good stuff. But I remember the Two Towers being like the Abyss, that once you watch the Extended version then the Theatrical cut becomes really flawed to go back to.

Like one thing was in the Two Towers Aragorn falls off a cliff, is shown washing up on a shore next to his horse and the next time we see him he's back in the castle and everything is fine. While in the Extended version it's much clearer that he very nearly died and had to do a lot more stuff to survive.

Gonna be honest, me too. I liked Man of Steel and enjoyed (not to say I thought they were very good) BvS and Justice League, I'm curious about this even though it sounds like a nightmare cross of the Exorcist prequels and Heaven's Gate, but 4 hours, oof. From what I understand it's set up so each hour is a break point, but then I start to wonder why they didn't release it as a miniseries like they planned to originally. Guess they wanted it to be an Event? Explains the meal box I guess.

HitB sucks because Jay sucks and that little turd hates anything that isn’t an AGFA/Arrow release or 70’s giallo. He just constantly sits there and shits on everything else they talk about and I’d rather listen to Rich’s godawful Plinkett character for an hour than hear Jay whine about blockbusters.

I think this is an odd take, seeing as how two recent movies I really enjoyed were both recommended by Jay - One Cut of the Dead and The Kid Detective. (And, to show that I certainly don't take everything that they say as gospel, I pretty much hated The Lighthouse. But to each their own.)

It's not really about whether I agree with them or not, it's if they are entertaining when they are doing it. Sort of like reading Ebert's reviews. Even if he hated a movie you loved, he usually wrote about it in an entertaining way. And I find RLM entertaining, even though they are not foolproof critical masterminds.

Jay's tastes match mine like 94% of the time, he watches and enjoys a variety of stuff from big dumb superhero movies with explosions to quiet, torturously slow indie films about grief and he's very self effacing and diplomatic when he doesn't like something (especially compared to mike) so it's difficult for me to imagine what kind of person would get mad at him.

Mike's willingness to recommend awful blockbuster garbage like Battleship or just make excuses for bad adaptations because he has contempt for the source material is a much more annoying habit.
