I had the chance to get to know her personally a couple years ago. She was a wonderful person with a heart warming smile and although she was already battling cancer at the time, you could really not tell at all just from the happiness she radiated at motorsport events.

lmao, I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 with about 55k miles on it to tow my trailer. The tach stopped working like ten years ago and it just kinda bounces around whenever it feels like it. Additionally: Ignition cylinder no longer requires a key and you can remove the key wherever you want in the travel Coil pack harness had shorts so the dealership ran separate individual wires to a few coilpack connectors One of the heads cracked and was replaced under warranty Either the sunroof or the windshield leaks when it rains, it drips out of the grab handles

Just in the last 6-8 months there's loving dozens of enormous brodozer yank tanks around the streets of Melbourne. Rams, F-whatevers and Chevy trucks. I give a mate of mine enough poo poo for buying a Raptor, they're about 80k, but I was having a chat with a guy walking his dog who parked in a Ram and he said it cost a hundred and sixty thousand dollars. What the gently caress, man?

I've been blasted by coal rolling fucks on my bike. I like to go to the hardware store in the evening, when all the old people are asleep, and the contractors are home, I like to park in the loading bay if I'm picking up more than 500lbs of poo poo, and it's always peak brodozer/Yank Tank (thanks) time. They like to park like this. Then load their 3 2x4's into their 7,000lb payload capacity commuter vehicle and gently caress off. Brosef here had to use a stepladder to load his 5 pieces of trim. This poo poo is crazy.

I saw this article recently and it makes complete sense with the current gen of trucks' styling coming from the big three. How big they've gotten? My 31 year old single cab 8 foot bed 4wd-not-lifted diesel F350 farm truck is about the size of a new ranger, maybe a F150. They're taller, wider, have taller beltlines, higher beds, yet smaller windows so that nobody can see out of, or in. Not to mention the single cab is basically dead so they're all significantly longer sporting 4 doors. Its all an affront. These things have gotten larger, heavier, packed with luxury options to deflect minivan sales to otherwise insecure man children. They're safer for the occupants at the detriment of everybody around them. Its extra enraging when they cue up a coal tune or outright try to ram cyclists or pedestrians. They pilot the things like there are no road laws or etiquette. They drive like their guy told them it was ok to be a giant piece of poo poo, and that because they themselves got an 84 month loan, they made it and other people are lesser and therefore should bow their superiority. I love driving and traveling by vehicle but this covid hellworld poo poo we're in? It belongs in this thread. I've been wandering the western states in a 31 year old farmtruck and the experiences so far on the road is that its as politicized as vaccines, masks, or helping out the poor drowning at the hands of the rich. Its loving tragic. This country is loving tragic. This isn't civilized. E2: beaten like all hell: Uthor posted:This comic on authoritarianism looks at trucks a bit, too. I broke a tail light backing into a Ford truck. It was dark and I didn't notice it parked about six spaces down from me. I just backed out of my spot, spun the wheel, got ready to put it in first and then crunch. It was an F-350 King Ranch long bed. The fucker was over 20' long and stuck halfway out into the parking lot lane. It went 10' beyond the end of the lines, even though it was pulled fully in to the curb. My own car could pull to the curb with 3' of line extending behind it. The bottom edge of the bumper just caught the back right corner of my car. I almost fit under it. A ridiculously large vehicle.

Eh, I've seen this before, and while I think it makes some valid points, and certainly identifies trends in American culture, it assumes far too deep a level of reasoning for these actions besides dipshits going "black ops military man cool!" The inference built on an inference reminds me of Q poo poo.

The best part about my mate with the Raptor (2.0L twin turbo diesel engine) is when he was telling me about it after he bought it and I said "oh yeah, my wife's Focus has a 2.0L engine" as if there was any similarity at all. He couldn't help himself and launched into a massive diatribe about turbos and diesel compression ratios and torque curves etc etc. The lowest hanging fruit, but still funny.

quote:These vehicles have a voracious appetite for space, one that’s increasingly irreconcilable with the way cities (and garages, and parking lots) are built. The neighbor who has the garage under my living room..... pretty new Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4. It doesn't fit through the garage in any way - it's too tall to clear the top of the door frame, MIGHT be able to barely squeeze in by the sides if the mirrors are removed (not folded in) if it didn't have hips. Garage is probably long enough for it, so there's that (my Outback fits easily length-wise with a good 8 ft to spare, but I occasionally bump a mirror pulling in). So they use the garage for storage and park the Ram in front of it. For comparison, I parked a newish U-Haul box truck (only a 10 footer) next to it for several days, and it made the U-Haul look like a toy. Another neighbor had a beefed up 4Runner - they couldn't close the garage with it in there. It did fit with the door opened fully, but it didn't clear the arm on the door opener - so the door just remained open while they lived here. That 4Runner had a decent lift on it though. Would have made more sense for them to just get a covered parking space ($35 vs $100), especially since they just had the one car and weren't using the garage for storage.

I hate how I try to make a turn out of a business and try to look both ways to clear the intersection and have a big dumb SUV or truck pull up next to me, entirely blocking my view, either requiring me to pull into the intersection a little to see around them, or wait until they go.
