I was really just looking for a cheap Bomberman type game, doesnt have to be that specific one or even Bomberman 'brand'.

RE: Xcom 2 I think it plays perfectly well on Switch. I actually think it runs better on Switch than on PS4. Sure, playing it on PC is a better experience, probably. But lots of people aren't PC gamers and the Switch Xcom port runs and plays great. I have no issues playing it with the controller. I also think that even though Xcom, Mario Rabbids, and Into the Breach are all 'tactical strategy' games, they play so differently that they are almost different genres of game altogether. Mario Rabbids and Into The Breach both feel much more like puzzle games than tactical strategy, because the gameplay is so heavily weighted towards movement and positioning. Like, both Mario Rabbids and ITB start you off with a certain level/map (static in MR, random in ITB), and then basically say to you, the player, "OK, given a limited amount of moves, how will you best deal with the enemies and challenges?" With Xcom, even though positioning/movement is still huge, there is more of a random/"chance" element that plays out in chance to hit %, etc. that makes Xcom feel very different, with more of a "gambling" aspect and less of a "Here is the one correct strategy that will allow you a perfect clear on this map." I have a lot more fun with Xcom over MR/ITB for this reason.

You might also find a good deal for physical if you shop used since it's a launch game. Haven't played it but from I hear it was underwhelming upon release but has been massively improved with patches since, so it's a solid Bomberman experience now.

hobbez posted:Mario + Rabbids Gold is on a huge sale for 13 bucks. Is this game pretty good? I enjoy turn based strategy. My main concern is it’s going to be too easy/not be engaging or deep enough, which I find tends to happen in “Mario” games I'm late but Mario vs Rabbids is very good and not too easy. It started to wear out it's welcome towards the end but it ended right at the right spot. Do note that it's pre-made stages, not an endless randomized campaign. In that way it's almost puzzle-like (there are bonus stages that really lean into this by making you complete them in a tiny number of turns, so you have to figure out the perfect solution).

signed up to get all my joycons repaired. the two gray ones i started with developed drift, the splatoon neon ones i replaced them with developed serious drift on the left side and stopped charging on the right side. i've just been only playing docked with a pro controller for like six months now. hope they turn this around quickly and i can play in bed again

I realized three of my four joycons had bad stick drift right after animal crossing came out, so basically right as quarantine hit and all the Nintendo repair services shut down for a few months I like the colors on the pair I bought to hold me till I could send all my others in for replacement, but drat I really don’t need six of the things.

Unless you only have 1 functioning hand or are blind the repair is easy and the parts and tools are cheap as poo poo. The Joy Cons are the first and only small electronics I've ever messed with and I've repaired 3 now. Taking out the battery is the only difficult part and a new one is only $10.

Also if you don't trust yourself with taking apart a joycon, you can get electrical contact cleaner and spray it under the stick (make sure you get under the little rubber flap). It's fast and easy, although how long it works varies. I've had to reapply the cleaner as little as two weeks after the last application, although this latest one has been going strong for half a year now

In BOTW is there any value in just loving off and going to places you're clearly not suited for (beyond it just being fun to get wrecked by an overpowered giant you have no hope of defeating)?

I'll say I completely ignored the progression aspect of botw and wound up in the south west desert area first and that kind of sucked but I didn't feel like I was gated off from it, more the annoying electric lizards were not worth fighting before you get the rubber armor

You can land on a sleeping Hinox and steal the weapons off his belt. It owns. The only thing reeally gating progress is not having upgraded armor, but the Hylian set is actually pretty easy to max out it just requires And of course you'll still find koroks and shrines everywhere, and only the hardest combat challenges require decent poo poo if you suck at shield parries or dodging. I got Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town yesterday and have only put it down for a short sleep break. I’m hooked and it’s shameful. Game is just Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley smashed into one, with frustratingly long load times, but maximum charm. I can’t wait to make Damon my tsundere boywaifu, and I need enough gold to purchase ALL the dogs ASAP.
