Desert Bus posted:Sounds like a load of poo poo to me. But yeah, there's a funny little historical anecdote to that: as dumb as it sounds, one of the most common (but also least well-known) side effects of opiates really is that they do terrible things to your digestion. I read once that it wasn't uncommon for opium dens to sell laxatives on the side, because yeah, you were gonna need them. Like really need them.

Iirc there's a point where you meet a couple kids that explicitly do drugs (not on screen but in dialogue) and if you're truly a piece of garbage you can give the crack to the kid directly. So that's probably why Australia won't allow it to be rated because of their bizarre standards. edit: to clarify, the game does not praise you or think highly of you for doing that or anything, but the mere presence of the act probably caused the rating. Cardiovorax posted:Christ, that's insane. It is. But digital-only games are a little weirder, and I think can get away with not getting a rating because of lacking a physical retail presence. Far as I know the original release of Disco Elysium has no rating and there's no issues with that, but the fact the Final Cut is getting a physical release means it needed classification. It's also thrown a wrench in the works of the developers' plan to give all previous owners the Final Cut as an upgrade. Because while they can sell the (umrated) original game, they can't distribute the Refused Classification updated version.

If you can scrounge up enough cash to pay for a heroin addiction but can't find the 5bux or whatever for a box of that when you stop eating opioids all the time, that's on you. Pick up some generic Benadryl too and you get to do withdrawals on easy mode.

I don't know a lot about Uk/British politics and how they relate to the monarchy in regards to which parties support the monarchy the strongest. Does the Monarchy have broad appeal amongst all parties, or do certain parties favor the monarchy more? I know that the US uses liberal in a different sense than most of the world, but if we were to make a comparison, would the "conservative" british party or the "leftist" british party be more aligned with the monarchy?

I'd say there's more of a conservative/monarchist crossover, but isn't likely to be 100%.

I am irish and I was not making some tiresome exaggerated 'that accent is dogshit thing' at all. She sounds scots but kinda hosed up. Not even slightly irish. If you want to hear a non irish person do an irish accent well, look at Steve Coogan. He super gets it. He does accents so regional you can tell which parish he's mocking. His mimicry of a weird hill farmer is insanely accurate. Steve is about 50% irish anyway, so he gets all the insanity.

I know that the US uses liberal in a different sense than most of the world, but if we were to make a comparison, would the "conservative" british party or the "leftist" british party be more aligned with the monarchy? The origins of the Conservative Party are in Toryism, a political movement that first emerged in the 17th century. The first Tories were people in Ireland who supported Charles II against Oliver Cromwell. The movement evolved after the interregnum (prompted by supporting James II's claim to the throne when others wanted to get rid of him for being Catholic) to describe a more general ideology, but Tories were still very strongly monarchist. Their motto was "God, Queen, and Country" and they opposed liberalising reforms. The opposing Whigs were not exactly anti-monarchy, but they wanted to strengthen parliamentary democracy and have more of a constitutional monarchy. Eventually both these groups had an official party and they changed their names to the Conservative and Liberal parties in the 19th century. These days of course there are a lot of people in these parties who are quite different, like people in the Conservative Party who are basically libertarians. But that's the history and heritage of the party. The Labour Party was formed by trade union leaders around the turn of the 20th century, and it's had a lot more individual anti-monarchists in it over the years because many members were some flavour of socialist until Blair moved the party to the right. But the other posters are right, even in the Labour Party it's always been more mainstream to support constitutional monarchy. All of the major parties know that it would be seen as radical and foolish by the average person to propose abolishing the monarchy (even if they don't really care about the family, people tend to think they are good for British identity and the economy). Recently we had Corbyn leading Labour and he was pilloried in the press due to supporting a bill introduced by another leftist to abolish the monarchy about 25 years before he became opposition leader. Even though while he was leader he claimed he didn't want to abolish it any more and only might 'scale back' it's influence in the wake of the Prince Andrew scandal. He probably had no idea in the 80s and 90s he would be anywhere near the leadership- he was a backbencher for so long he felt free to voice his actual opinions. Someone who was leader at the time wouldn't say it unless the Overton Window had already moved sharply to the left. TL;DR: Technically the Conservative Party is the traditional party of being pro-monarchist, and rabid fans of the monarchy seem to mostly vote for them, but there isn't a mainstream anti-monarchist party.
