Besides Julius getting presumably getting taken out by a Rot attack followed by Kumoko bragging about her newly gained Rot Eye there's also the OP that shows the lady all in white covered in spider webs in Wakabe's eye. So unless there's something explicitly stating otherwise the Lady in White is clearly Kumoko. Speaking of the OP the Lady in White doesn't show up in the lineup with the Demon Lord and her generals despite being at the meeting a few episodes ago. I hope using the OP isn't cheating, it's been fun watching it and putting together the pieces it presents you with.

How about this: The Demon Lord is Kumoko because she came out of nowhere, uses super strong threads to attack/bind people, and in the OP after she bites the planet, the zoom out with her cloak is overlaid with the four Kumokos.

Ooh if we're gonna play total fun speculation game, how about based on that Kumoko gets a FIFTH parallel mind but it's EEEEVIL and that one becomes the demon lord. Either by making a body for itself through magic or taking over sometimes like a werewolf. Also if anyone else missed the ED this week as much as me I offer you this to help recenter yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPcBxyIe1qA&t=10s I also miss the hardcore dark souls hell/desparation vibe of the manga... but I can't fight cute baby monster Aoi Yuuki Kumoko

Has Kumoko ever been portrayed as a particularly good person, though? The way she hasn't met anyone capable of communicating with her makes her hard to morally evaluate, but still, she interacts with the world almost exclusively by killing things. I don't see her killing Julius as particularly out of character.

Gonna focus in on her biting on the planet, which I feel symbolizes that the Demon Lord has plans for destruction. Kumoko seems determined to save the planet, granted 1)We don't what that entails and 2)this is Kumoko 15 years ago so there's a chance she just gives up and decides that she'll be the one to destroy the planet for some reason. Well she did kill a bunch of people even when they were clearly running away and no longer a threat specifically because they gave good EXP using self-defence as a fig leaf to rationalize her actions.

Wasn't he blasted by the Earth dragon? e: I rewatched the scene and huh, that's interesting. A blast comes in level with the ground in a straight line and this basically disintegrates their teacher; but the dragon seems to have a fire breath weapon (or just coloured in a way that indicates its explosive and powerful?) and the dragon attacks the students from rising from under the ground, which isn't the direction the attack came from. e2: AtomikKrab posted:Earth Dragon used a petrification attack I think. If you watch until the point Shun is looking at his teacher's last moments you see the body disintegrating and turn to ash which petrification wouldn't do. Bobulus posted:Well, yes, but she wants to save the world for selfish reasons, like the fact that she'd die, too, if the world ended. Yes. As the ending theme points out quite nicely, her main concern is "I don't want to die! Uwwwwaaahhh!" So far, she mostly reacted to things which disagreed with that notion. Having the world die complicates things a bit. I think she would have been perfectly content hanging around her house and eating struggling monsters, until that was burned down and she was actively hunted. From there on, it was a power trip to ensure that would never happen again. Also the high level monsters taste just way to good to not kill and eat. Now I sort of wonder, if she tasted those pesky humans which showed up recently. I did like how she was crushing on the dragon for his magnificent carnation skills. cant cook creole bream fucked around with this message at 11:31 on Mar 20, 2021 |

(which is a simplified framework for the way humans will try to live their lives, requiring the lower stages before they can attempt the higher stages) ...our spider protagonist spent the first eight or nine episodes stuck right at the first stage, physiological needs. Fighting for food, attempting to set up a shelter, just struggling for survival, etc. It was only when she returned to the upper layer and actually had a degree of safety that she started thinking towards the future. Now she's at stage 2: preparing for future safety, health, property. This, perhaps understandably, has not left a lot of room for love or belonging in her spidery heart.

Link removed If you're blasting through a bunch of novels an e-reader might make sense. Each book you buy as an ebook probably saves you ~3-4 dollars and that adds up to a pretty good chunk of the purchase price of the e-reader pretty quickly if you read a lot.
