My understanding is with the two-shot vaccines if you do have a bad reaction it may be due to the vaccine interacting with antibodies you already have, so if you feel sick after the second dose it's the antibodies you've built up from the first dose, but if you feel sick after the first dose it's because you already had COVID and developed antibodies.

Feeling sick for a short time is a common side effect of many vaccines, so I'm skeptical of this idea.

It's something I would describe as a tendency, with a reasonable mechanism of action, but not an especially useful diagnostic rubric or anything. Confounding factors would include the patients immune status, current medications, genetic factors, environmental factors, and probably cross-reactivity with other anti-coronavirus antibodies from prior infections

All I've learned from being a molecular biologist is that you can really only ever speak in terms of tendencies and probabilities, there are very few discrete functions in vivo.

I just realized that I 100% would not recognize extremely highly renowned actor john gielgud except in old age. I've seen him in many things when he was in his 80s, but the core of his work was when he was 40 -50 years younger, and its very obvious . He looked so different as a young man, and it's genuinely humbling to realise you know essentially nothing about someone so respected. I do love that he kept working even when very old. He obviously just liked to act, and tv was much less stressful than stage work.

Sample of one but my roommate definitely had COVID-19 and was fine after her first Moderna. My wife and I stayed negative and felt fine on our first Pfizer.

Idk what round 2 will be like for either of us.

I had no symptoms for shot 1 of Moderna. I hope it’s not antibody related because we have to wait 16 weeks here and I’ll presumably have a lot more of that then than a 3 week gap.

I think looking up what tunes were sampled from what completely opened my eyes to new types of music I wouldn't have normally listened too. Lots of 70's funk and dub/reggae stuff. This was when I was first on the net and you couldn't just stream anything you wanted in an instant.

Back then getting music was an actual commitment of either time or money so it was a completely different thing to what it is now.

There's a bunch of great youtube channels that dig into stuff like this. I stumbled onto this one recently, here he is digging into the songs that got sampled/replicated when Joy Division recorded Blue Monday. I'll timestamp it at 3:05 where he starts that part of the breakdown:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iyzk1Gwwu7c&t=185s

You'll never be able to listen to the song the same way again, especially when he shows you the inspiration for Peter Hook's infamous bassline :v:

I love learning stuff about music, so sites like whosampled are super cool. I had thought I had "solved" it back in like 96 so I hadn't thought to look into that bass line in all these years untill I was watching a video about the making of Glory Box yesterday. And now I learned even more. It rules.

It goes one layer even deeper than that. Gunter Kellman Choir's version is a cover, released in 1970. The Belgian pop group Wallace Collection's song is the original, which predates it by a year.

The GKC cover is the one Isaac Hayes, Portishead, Tricky, etc. sampled. I, Monster also sampled it for Daydream in Blue.

Technically there's a layer even deeper than that, which is that the string arrangement came from a movement in Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

She was the 23rd attempt to replicate the Weapon-X program via cloning (using Wolverine's DNA as a basis) so I guess they were using WD40 naming protocols.

There's a whole lot of Weapon-[roman numeral] projects in Marvel lore. The project that created Captain America was Weapon-1, Luke Cage was a test subject in Weapon-VI, Wolverine and Sabretooth were in Weapon-X, etc etc

Lol cheese keeps in the freezer for years, this three months thing will go back to the now mythical “freezer burn” which is where you allow something to get welded to the side of a chest freezer and that can happen in a week if you are unlucky. Modern freezers with draws don’t give food freezer burn.

For years and years people were “rotating food” and throwing it out based on arbitrary dates agreed upon by the people selling whatever type of food it was for no reason whatsoever, just decades and decades of unnecessary food waste.
