Not a manga reader, just guessing, but I think Sukuna has a plan to get out of Yuji, and Fushigoro's abilities figure into that somehow.

Interesting that the curses that use Sukuna's fingers don't seem to have to worry about him taking over like Yuji does. Maybe Yuji's one was special somehow

There’s still only one Sukuna, right? I figured he’d have to leave Yuji for that to be a possibility.

Thanks for clearing things up, this very much feels like a show where things are underexplained in favor of cool fight scenes.

They are some awesome fight scenes though.

I think the idea is they leech off the cursed energy rather than be a vessel for sukuna. Or i think he cant incarnate in a cursed spirits body

Well, not all of them are cursed spirits. The green dude spitting blood (and probably his aniki?) are just dudes force-fed fingers.

No they are the ones who were fed the Cursed Wombs: Death Paintings. Not Fingers. Which should allow for the Curses to Incarnate. So they are like Yuji and Sukuna but with weaker (But still strong) Curses possessing them.

Sukuna's reincarnation in a human is a 1 in a million chance so there might just be super rare requirements for it.

The season is over but Jujutsu Kaisen will continue. We are getting a movie for Volume 0. The prequel to Jujutsu Kaisen and the short story that inspired it that is fully canon.

Well, the season is over and I have to say that it ended not with a whimper but with a supernova. Holy Sweet gently caress, that fight blew me all the way away. Ridiculously huge props to the animators and the director, inter-cutting on every beat of the insert song was just... :discourse:

Change absolutely nothing and make another season, right the gently caress now.

Hopefully they take their time to make sure everything remains a banger for season 2, but :yeah: the hype is just too strong and it's hard to be rational when this season turned so drat spectacular!

I want more of these dumbasses dumbassing + rear end-kicking their way through more cool fights.

A lot of really good Nobara faces this episode.

Worth noting that 24 was the only episode both directed and story boarded by series director Sung Hoo Park. Between this and God of High School he's definitely established himself as a name to look for when it comes to action animation. I can't wait to see what he does next.

Probably soonish, given how much of a boost season 1 gave the manga, but Mappa has a couple other high priority projects that might delay it, especially since the movie will keep it in the public eye through a longer season break.

There's Chainsaw Man and Attack on Titan looming. Once we know more about how they'll be handled, it'll be easier to see what happens next for Jujutsu.

Yeah I expect a bit more of a break for season 2. The movie will probably come out first so maybe the season after the movie we will get season 2.

Haven't read the manga but I heard/read from a couple of people that there is a "Dark Tournament"-type arc (if we were to compare it to YuYu Hakusho) coming up in the manga right after this which apparently is long enough to sustain another 2-cour season without problem.

There is. Just some, imo, weird possible adaptation issues based on the length of some arcs.

By sheer coincidence it looks like where I fell behind on the manga was basically the end of season 1, so I'm back in the dark about the future story.

JJK has a high number of top tier shounen women in it. Nobara's techniques and attitude in this episode were great, I'm glad the end of the episode teased more Nobara and Maki action coming. Along with Panda and my boy Todo it looks like everyone cool is going to return.

It's like team 7 but I like all of them and they are actually friends this time.

Thats actually the most recent development
What comes after the anime stops is something else entirely and not in the least bit as neat and orderly as a tournament.

This finished about half way through the current manga and they could probably build 24 episodes on the arcs that came after. There is a major flashback and a big arc after this. And as mentioned the manga is moving into a tournament type arc.

This fight shows why Nobara kicks hella rear end and the thing about jujutsu sorcerers needing to be insane deffo applies to Nobara.

BTW here is a great chapter cover for the one where Nobara reveals her big technique

I think this is maybe one of the only shounen animes where every fight was a well animated banger? Was there anything that was lackluster? Way too loving stylish and awesome.

Helps that it's MAPPA and the director was also in charge of The God of High School.

I POSTED WHAT NOW!?
God of High School had jaw dropping fight scenes. It just had a piss poor story so nobody gave it a second thought because you didn’t care about what was happening on screen. Jujutsu Kaiden shows us what happens when the fights and the plot is actually good.

Rohan Kishibe

God of High school's fights really didn't do anything for me, tbh.

If I had one critisism of JJK it's that there are moments in some of the fight scenes that feel very.. floaty. Where the characters and the environments don't quite sync up right and it feels a little like the characters are just cutouts being moved around. Now, it's only an occasional thing in JJK, there are also scenes like Yuji landing his final hit this episode for example, that work really well to sell the action, but I thought in God of High school it was floaty almost all the time, sometimes on impacts too, and I just could not give a poo poo about a single fight in that show.

The director is improving is what I'm saying. I hope they are back for season 2.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

That's kind of a criticism ive had of the anime in general, the manga feels like it flows from decisive hit to even heavier blows, fights in this story usually end with both sides completely ragged.
So I felt that the usual flippy, aimless bouncing around, thought pretty, doesnt really fit with the pace the manga sets.

For what I expected, I was thinking more towards superpowered The Raid: Redemption/Ong Bak style fights.

Living the Dream
The perspective on some of the slightly overindulgent "rotate the camera around the action" shots is kinda jarringly weird/off, but that's pretty small potatoes given the general quality of everything.

There's enough for a season 2 right now, easily. The only thing that I'd have to eyeball is how many arcs you could fit in. There's a shorter arc that comes right after this, then something of an interstitial arc that leads into an arc that is very, very long.

There is a lot of flash over function with JJK's battle scenes, but I think that's fine since the real meat of the fight progression is built around the cursed techniques, so cool punches and kicks are basically just there to keep things lively in-between those bits

I'd be curious to see what Sung Hoo Park would do with an action heavy story that has more nuts and bolts fights. Not quite down to Earth on the level of say, Vagabond, but with less room for improvised flourishes. I can't really think of anything like that off the top of my head, though.
