Never did I think that my local Jeopardy airing at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS would be a good thing during March Madness. Also, I'm working nights twice this week, so even better.

Since someone in this thread has to watch this, I might as well do it. I'm not watching the interviews however.

Presence was a bit blah on first impression, didn't feel anything but a phoned in appearance.

A bit odd that Holy Roman Empire was ruled correct regarding the head of it THEN he notes he meant to say Emperor. Didn't matter due to Final.

Let's see, Shakespeare, a Final clue that explicitly states the time period as December-January and two people can't write a thing. I've never read his histories & even I got it.

I feel like that protest sign that said "our expectations for you were low but holy gently caress" is a good summation of tonight's experience.

Really enjoyed two players (including the champion) absolutely mystified by the mechanics of the arcane light pen in FJ

Yeah, Oz has been on TV for like fifteen years, he's perfectly fine as a television personality, it's unsurprising that he was totally comfortable in front of the cameras.

He just sucks as a human being and gently caress him always and forever.

I told YouTubeTV not to bother recording Jeopardy from now on. I'll turn it back on in two weeks.

Hope that contributes to watch data.

Yeah he's an obnoxious person (and I forgot how obnoxious he was to watch until YouTube recommended his huge and frankly easy Daily Double against Ken and Brad) but he puts out a great tweet from time to time.

Final Jeopardy questions generally have a way to figure out the answer. A straight up trivia question with no "door" is lame and not worthy of a Final.

It was obvious to me and I've never been west of Pennsylvania. Los Angeles is Spanish for City of Angels & hosted the Summer Olympics in 1932 and 1984. Do 3rd grade math and volia.

HookShot

Yeah that question sucked balls. Like, just put Los Angeles, too. Who the gently caress doesn't know what the "city of Angels" is? It's like writing a question about Barney but writing "a purple dinosaur" thinking that might throw some people off.

Between yesterday and today there have been three Tolkien references in the clues and categories (Tweens, Prancing Pony and the Inklings) and that makes me very happy.

i mean, sure, i know all the summer olympics cities and years (and the contestants certainly *should*) but it's still a miserable question and not fun for 99% of viewers and also it's a straight fact whereas FJ is supposed to be at least a little bit of a puzzle.

Is it me or have there been a lot of people coming out of the proverbial woods this week wanting to have Oz taken off the air for hosting Jeopardy? Where have these people been for the last decade or have they not been paying attention?

HookShot

There have been people calling for it for years, but now that he's doing damage elsewhere than his own stupid show it's making more waves.

While overall I don't think he's a bad presenter (although gently caress he doesn't belong on that stage) every single time he says "I was looking for" instead of "we" it grates me like nothing else. THIS SHOW ISN'T ABOUT YOU. SAY WE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

I don't think there's a lot of overlap between the afternoon daytime set that watches Oz and the Jeopardy viewership so you can forget he exists until he comes out of his bubble. Before he started hitting my Twitter timeline with the awful COVID takes the last time I'd heard of him was on John Oliver's show.
