Why the hell are the money activities 10k for 3 minutes and 20k for 30 minutes? Sure the second is slower income at less heat but the values just don't make much sense and 666 gold per minute is nothing. It feels like someone typo'd 10 minutes and most room items cost 10k+.

Low level research also takes too long considering how fickle science minions are.

It's part of the economy balance: the slower schemes are more minion-efficient and heat-efficient, the faster schemes are for quick infusions of money that will quickly deplete your other resources if you rely on them too much. Ideally you should run several of the longer schemes simultaneously in different regions

Also as my friend found out, if you do the Eli mission make sure to actually deal with the "find the gun objective" or there will be timed events with negative effects on the world map that can give you big problems

Burning thru minions on quick cash missions will eventually catch up to you too.

Unless you use Zalinka. The V.O.I.D Prototype brainwashes agents into minions in about 2 seconds.

Played it a few hours, like it so far but I have 0 feel for how much minion supporting stuff I need (other than lockers to raise the maximum #). Money is clear-ish, same with power, but I don't yet quite get how much of X you need for Y number of minions.

Also research seems weird, it pauses sometimes for not having power when I have power?

Reloading fixed my researchers issue, as did adding some closer food rooms.

I'm thinking about restarting because everything the tutorial forces me to build is in a place I would never build it, and I have ended up with an extremely awkward base that doesn't support my playstyle at all. :/

I was playing in the background all day at work today then like 6 hours in, finally tried to recruit a henchman but during the mission they lit half my base on fire before I could subdue them and I lost everything.

Game is good, if you liked EG1 there's nothing to lose here.

e: Re scheme time/balance, just get like 12 radio consoles up and running ASAP so you can run schemes in several regions at once. Sure 20k over 30 mins doesn't sound like much but 240k over 30 mins is more than enough.

I only have three different science devices, one of each of the ones available currently, and my scientists work at each of those stations... but only one at a time. I have not tried multiples yet, you may need to create a separate science room for that to happen.

Almost six hours played and I've had a blast. About the only gripe I have is that I wish the world map would be more obivous about which regions are idle. I spent a lot of time scrolling and squinting to check if there was an active operation in each area.

if you zoom out on the world map (until the mission icons disappear) it will have just the current op running in each section showing. If you can't see an icon, then nothing is running in that sector.

played this all day - exactly what i wanted from an eg sequel

totally agree that the ui could use a little love but idle regions do have a faster flashing light which is easy for me to pick out

i was spamming quick missions and agent x showed up five times back to back to spank me for being greedy and risky

i had to set up a dedicated bank of incinerators to keep up with all the dead bodies - i think i lost upwards of 100 minions before i finally changed up my strategy, one of my hallways had so many body bags you couldn't see the floor at all

Scientists take a lot of breaks, but I can confirm that multiple scientists can research the same project on multiple stations. I have 5 of each station and 10 scientists and I usually have 3-4 working at a time.

That's a pretty involved tutorial. I just about managed to get to the end and unlock all the rooms today. Granted I think I messed up by getting way too ambitious in my base building.

Definitely very engrossing. I'd agree that it's easy to get yourself stuck waiting for money or -heat schemes to complete but it shouldn't be an issue now I'm out of the tutorial.

i think the problem is simply that scientists spend a lot of time doing other stuff and take time to replace each other. there's no queueing at all. the obvious solution is making a large enough research room and having a large number of scientists, but that's more of a midgame project i think.

I played for 6 hours today, I haven't played EG1 in a few years but based on my memory of that there's literally nothing that is worse here. It's not necessarily a huge glaring improvement and some things like building and the UI are clunky, but if you liked EG1 you will like EG2, it's at very least EG1 ported to a modern engine with some cool new features added.

I lost track of time and spent most of my day playing this game, which is a good sign. I’ve completed Emma’s first mission after the tutorial and so far, all I’ve encountered are investigators. My main issue is that my base seems to be low on minions and not reaching the cap so quite a few stations are just abandoned. It’s nothing really major, but it’s a bit odd.

I’m probably being real conservative with my building because I’ve still got half of the donut beginning floor to build on and I haven’t even built stairs. I’ve only got 2 stations for scientists to research on, but it’s not like I feel like I’m going too slow? It’s hard for me to tell what pace I’m supposed to be going at.

You can manually recruit new minions from the Workers tab. I think they only automatically recruit at a rate of 5 every few minutes until you fill up, but manually buying them you can cap them out right away.

It's fairly easy to bulldoze and re-build rooms in this game so don't worry too much about conservative building - the spaces are super cramped by design and kind of force using them in ways you don't particularly want to, that was true of EG1 as well but having multiple floors here and an overall easier time rearranging your base means you can move your power plant and prison to the basement whenever you unlock it with minimal cost/downtime.

e: Pro tip - disable the tutorial if you already know the general flow of the EG games - you still get self-paced side-missions to accept at any time that walk you through unlocking new minion types, etc. But disabling the tutorial gives you access to every room type right away and skips all the railroading.
However you start with super limited money with the tutorial disabled so make sure you rush to a comms room to start scheming ASAP

I’ve been playing Emma and hired a shitton of valets, built up my casino front and distracted investigators I didn’t want captured. Most of the time, they get stopped before they can enter the base, get taken to a other part of the casino and then get resolved to death by karaoke and alcohol. It also helps that the baccarat and roulette tables also decrease their skill so their disguises are poo poo.

Outside of that, the freeze ray is pretty good at lowering the stats of the enemy.

Things probably still draw too much power, but it feels like the outcome of having research be a bit too slow in the beginning so you can’t get to better power generation until later.

Also someone make a mod that makes corridors free and starts you with the insane tech of “stairs” because my base layout is doo doo
