It's a shame when you can see what anime (or any media really) could be rather than what it is usually allowed to be. Working within constraints can sometimes yield amazing sparks of creativity but more often they end up being a burden on the creative process. Risk averse franchise behemoths that need to put profitability before quality and crash costing both make me sad.
