Make sure you're careful about fresh air when looting forgotten tombs. Many an urbex adventurer has me their end because there wasn't any oxygen in the buried mansion/missile silo/industrial area. Some kind of air monitor that doesn't have a visual readout but does beep alarmingly would be helpful and thematically appropriate.

It won't be a drop in revenue (unless they can get targeted by an effective collective boycott over something) but it will affect retention, hiring, and partnerships, along with how any sort of regulation / investigation plays publicly.

No matter what you believe, I don't believe in you.

I used to be a dispatcher for one of the gig delivery companies and holy poo poo our guys would've walked out en masse over loving over a driver that bad. not saying it was a saintly place or w/e but part of making the job work is drivers trusting the system and lol how the gently caress can you tell them to do that if you'll openly hang em out like that?

The issue here (which is part of the article) is that they have to provide their own equipment, and if they lose it that's them hosed. If a guy pulls a gun on a guy driving for dominos and says "Gimme the van and the pizzas" then the dominos guy (assuming they're not dumb as hell) is going to say "sure whatever can I keep enough cash for a taxi home". It's the company's loss not theirs, and realistically it's not even the company's loss it's the company's insurance provider's loss. Absolute worst case scenario for just handing it all over is you get fired.

If a door dash guy gets a gun pulled on them then they're losing probably the most valuable possession they own without which they literally cannot work. They're out of a job with none of the protections and benefits that come with being actually fired, and they're probably still in debt for buying it in the first place. Even getting mugged for just the pizza is a contract delivery breach. It's not "your bike or your life" it's "your life or your livelihood", putting people in a position where they're more likely to get shot in the first place.

The company going "yeah he wasn't even on the clock" to try to preempt even the possibility of the family suing is just the finishing :discourse: of their not giving a poo poo

this is pre-cyberpunk dystopia but i remember an article about ford's collaboration with the argentinan junta where they'd point out labor leaders to the police who'd drag them off to be tortured- sometimes in the break room- and then they'd get fired for leaving work early

since when does Dominoes own a fleet of delivery vehicles? Every pizza delivery I’ve ever seen has employees using heir personal vehicle with a magnetic company logo slapped on top.

i think all the Dominos around here the drivers own the vehicles.

when I worked for a local restaurant and had to do deliveries the store owned 2 cars and they were the absolute worst cars the owner could find that could still technically drive

Yeah, I gets down with the homies

Presumably, you've got insurance on the car, and police can find cars. Once your E-Bike is lifted, it's getting the spray paint treatment and no one is ever gonna see it again.

Domino's may also have a mild concern since you're an actual employee where as UberEats or w/e only cares that you were in Breach of Contract.

quote:

The pay for a private in the English Army was originally one shilling a day.[10] A soldier was expected to pay for food and clothing out of their wages after using the initial sign-up bounty to purchase their initial equipment. It was not until 1847 that a limit was placed on deductions, ensuring that each soldier was paid at least one penny (a twelfth of a shilling) a day, after deductions.[3]
