Faux Mulder posted:They'll both look a bit better on a capable PC, but Superhot is pretty sparse graphically anyway and has no online stuff, so I'd advise getting that one at least on VR, if only because it's a great demo game if you ever want to take your Quest on the road and show it off to somebody else. https://uploadvr.com/superhot-vr-new-life-quest/ I believe Superhot is genuinely better on Quest because they remade it to take advantage of the fact that you aren't tethered. The PC version was build on the assumption that you will get tangled up in the wire if you turn around too much. Superhot Team posted:In the old versions of Superhot, there were pyramids placed in the center of the play space that would put players back in the center where they need to be and facing the correct way to be right in the middle of the action for the next sequence. And considering these were headsets that worked with front-facing experiences directly before cameras or sensors, such as Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR, it was easy to calibrate the next level for players. I am not sure if they ended up porting any of these improvements to PC. SimonChris fucked around with this message at 11:00 on Apr 7, 2021 |

Superhot seemed cool but when I finally put it on my quest 2 I found that a lot of the levels were way too hard without the ability to move around the whole room. So if you are getting it make sure you have a big bougie dedicated VR space

I played a bit of Superhot last night and yeah a few spots were really tough to dodge in (such as the elevator ambush and the kill room that's just three guys with pistols) but even with a small space to move around in I was able to dodge most stuff by squatting or dropping to one knee. Maybe it gets worse later on. Also Beat Saber works great over Virtual Desktop so thanks to those who recommended it. Looking at my future use I'll definitely get more out of being able to play Run the Jewels tracks than I will out of chasing perfect Expert+ scores so wireless streaming from my PC seems the best approach.

Played a couple of community tracks on Beat Saber. I guess I never really wondered where the hardcore DDR fans went, but I know now! I really enjoyed Seven Nation Army and Back in Black as accessible rock tracks, and Uptown Funk was a bit beyond my skill level but great for making me dance about like an idiot. Looking forward to finding other tracks for people like me who aren't rhythm game maniacs.

One of the best things about Beatsaber is that you will go into a song, get your rear end kicked by it, and put it on the shelf for a while. You'll come back a few weeks later and ace it out-of-the-box like it wasn't a thing. Once you start to pickup the "language" tracks are written in and parse it without thinking, it gets so much more fun. Baba Yetu is complex, but makes you feel the beat/music in a way that's hard to describe. A fair number of the Lindsey Stirling tracks are well put together as well, though probably a bit more advanced for the moment.

If you're going to buy one, make sure it has PD because the Quest power draw is very high. A non-PD battery will extend your session, but it won't fully drain the battery before the Quest dies.

I've got an existing one and it's very cheap so is almost certainly non-PD, but all I need is a small boost given our play sessions are in the brief span between the toddler going to bed and our bedtime. If I need to buy another battery I'll look for a PD one, thanks. I really enjoyed this version of Shake It Off with the triple swings back and forth on the chorus, any other good recommendations for songs that get you to dance about on normal difficulty? Right now I'm having the same problem that I had in Guitar Hero when I started out which is that one missed note generally becomes several as I reorient myself, but I'm sure that'll lessen with practice.

The "one missed note means multiple" never really goes away, especially on the more frenetic sections in high PP songs. Don't worry about it to much, just keep slicing.

The new no fail mode is great because it doesn't blue ball you by tanking your run but also doesn't destroy your score unless you would have failed already X Gon Give it To Ya Hard and expert only but it's an easier hard Gangnam Style! The Mother We Share Mr Blue Sky Once you start playing maps more, you can very easily slip into the mindset of what the mapper expects you to do, making old and new maps easier. I also liked those triple swings when I started but there are so many wrist-heavy mappers who just stuff them everywhere they can.

I mean if you're all in around that skill range, look up older ruckus maps, theres lots of fun simpler stuff he does. He was "peak" good mapping back then for sure.

Their advertising seems entirely based around breaking the rules of VR comfort and making you vomit. Oh boy, my favorite thing is flashing lights, having the camera move without my input, and vomiting! Also I noticed a distinct lack of hands in the trailer so I'm guessing it doesn't support hand tracked controllers.

Wilson explains the ad was created by an agency belonging to the Richards Group in Dallas, specifically the work of the artist who also designed Daikatana’s cover art. Wilson thought it was hilarious, epitomising the in-your-face attitude at the core of the company. “I remember very clearly presenting that ad to John in his cubicle,” he says. “He also thought it was hilarious, and was like, ‘gently caress yes.’ And then he sorta started to think twice about an hour later. He was like, ‘I dunno man,’ and I think my words to him were, ‘John, don’t be a pussy.’ And that was it. He signed off on it.” " https://www.pcgamer.com/the-history-of-ion-storm/

Even if that doesn't help me with searching for maps, I'd really, really like to be able to have a number on the internet go up. I was actually looking into getting scoresaber working on the quest earlier today. Sounds like the new version of BMBF for the latest beat saber update will be out in the next week or so and then there'll be a scoresaber update to work with that. I can't help you on getting an older version going in the meantime though. Also I'm loving reading people talking about starting to get into custom beat saber songs. Back when I started doing that I was just able to get into the easier end of expert and now a couple of months later I'm getting 86% accuracy on stuff like this. If you keep pushing yourself you'll find that stuff you thought was impossible is suddenly really easy, I remember the first time I fired up an expert+ song and almost instantly died and couldn't even follow the notes.
