It resulted in my favorite stat to this point in this admittedly young season, that Ka'ai Tom gave up his first career hit as a pitcher before getting his first career hit. He's an outfielder

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the runner on second rule is here to stay, by all accounts the players actually like it because it lets them end games and get home faster.

Yeah, it doesn't significantly increase home or road team's winning chance, what it does increase is the chance that the teams will score different amounts of runs in a given inning, which will end the game.

I don't like it, but MLB and the players do so it's probably here to stay.

Sounds like every inning should start with a runner on second, then. Why not? More pressure and excitement, and a higher chance of more offense. Everyone loves offense!

It's artificially creating offense when the problem is still that the way the game is played now sucks.

On June 15th 1976, a Pirates - Astros game at the Astrodome was rained out because flooding filled the stairwells. The players couldn’t leave, so a buffet dinner was set up for them on the outfield.

In Manfred’s future every game will start with the players eating a buffet dinner on the outfield.

Golden Corral doesn't share pork bun. I think their target audience wouldn't get it anyway. Honestly I've only ever been to one buffet ever that had them, some random chinese buffet in Philly, they also had a Mongolian grill and surprisingly good pastry, but the only reason I went there was to eat my own body weight in pork bun. Mmmmmmmmm...

Narrowly beaten by “rain delay after the 7th” in brutality. God help you if you end up experiencing both scenarios in a game, especially simultaneously.

The best buffets in Vegas are at The Wynn and The Cosmopolitan. Planet Hollywood has a good one too because they kept it the same as when it was The Aladdin.

The extra innings rule is the equivalent of my beer league hockey games where the refs won't ever call icing if the game started at 10pm or later.

There is a good argument that the Yankees should've traded Gleyber Torres last season. It's as big of an open question as to what exactly he is as a player, as it's been in his career. It's getting more and more clear that the Yankees have stuck with this core for too long and the longer they wait to make really big changes, the more their assets are depreciating.

They were doing this last season so I'm pretty sure its the new standard. It actually seems like one of the most logical moves in the "try and attract people put off by the length" campaign.

I assume they're also still doing reduced inning breaks? That probably contributes a tiny bit.
