If you love beat saber and $15 per mo it fits in your budget, you owe it to yourself to give Supernatural a try. Got a lot of short shrift for "ripping off" beat saber, but there is a lot they do that is way better. It's kinda nice having a coach telling you that you're an absolute beast while you play videogames inside by yourself. The "blocks" move way faster, the environments are beautiful and the music is very eclectic.

Wilson thought it was hilarious, epitomising the in-your-face attitude at the core of the company. “I remember very clearly presenting that ad to John in his cubicle,” he says. “He also thought it was hilarious, and was like, ‘gently caress yes.’ And then he sorta started to think twice about an hour later. Another dumb question - if someone's using Virtual Desktop to play wirelessly, does that prevent me using the PC to do other stuff? Let's assume that it's got enough power to run everything at once.

I'm used to the Steam Link where it would send the entire screen to your remote device, so alt-tabbing would also change what was being streamed. However it looks like SteamVR / the game being played usually isn't the active window. Would keyboard / mouse inputs conflict with the Quest controllers? I'm guessing any sounds would be passed through to the Quest regardless.

I'm trying to figure out if I can write an email or browse the internet while Mrs Boat is Beat Sabering, or if I should just stick to my phone.

Finished my second VR animation after working on it for about 10 months and uploaded it to Youtube last night, processing is done so you should be able to watch it in 4K60fps now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnnvVdr08C0

First time using DAINAPP for AI frame interpolation to boost it from 30 FPS to 60, it worked well enough that I generally can't tell the difference between a real frame and a fake one. Last animation was in 30 FPS and I don't think it really works for VR, you get a severe jittering effect if anything gets too close to you whereas it's generally not noticeable at 60. Only problem came at the very end when the app got confused and started outputting nonsense frames so I had to render the last 30 seconds or so in proper 60 FPS.

The high intensity workouts in Supernatural get pretty drat hectic at times. It's my #1 VR cardio thing. I've also ended up finding a surprising amount of new music I like on it. One of the cool things the connected app has is a "pull this up on Spotify" button for every playlist.

Is anyone here able to get this new ReShade VR CAS mod working with Dirt Rally 2.0 in VR mode?

When I use it in combination with kegetys eye accomodation d3d11.dll then ReShade doesn't load at all, at least in VR mode. If I disable kegetys mod then dirtrally2.exe crashes with an access violation shortly after launching.

It works perfectly fine with and without kegetys mod in non-VR mode (though I'm not sure if his mod does anything in non-VR mode?). It also works fine in other VR titles, like Eleven Table Tennis.

Update on this issue - there are two separate problems & solutions:

DR 2.0 Crashes on Launch in VR Mode With ReShade (dxgi.dll) Installed

ReShade Does Not Load in VR Mode When Using Kegetys Eye Accommodation Mod (d3d11.dll)

So far it is not clear why these issues happen. On some systems the original mod works out of the box, on others either or both of these issues can happen.

Oculus should start putting new categories in the library, because with the App Labs I'm starting to have too many, a category for them to be separate the rest would be nice.

Now that I'm mentioning App Labs, I guess I will comments a few entries:

Smash Drums - This is a sure entry to the proper store, once it's ready. It's a drumming music game, with the usual notes coming to the 'to hit' position. Right now it's only a demo with a single song. But the production values are good, it's fun and accessible to normal, non-musician people.
Ancient Dungeon - They are putting more content with each update, for an alpha, it has already a nice amount of items, enemies, modifiers, etc. It has interesting roguelike aspects, although the game itself suffers because at the end of the day, the combat is super basic.
Descent Alps - It needs more polish, but I think the idea is worth exploring and the controls were intuitive enough, moving the body and hands to simulate a bit of skying.
Black Hole Pool - I like the idea of someone making a VR pool game, alas, the implementation of the controls here is awful.

I think the problem more likely to sink his plan is how Windows handles passing commands and the fact that a window needs to be "in focus" to take commands. Hence, when he goes to write an email, Beatsaber loses focus and at best auto-pauses or stops taking input from the controllers until focus is restored.

If you’re installing an apk of a game sold on the store it’s probably going to be dinged as piracy and lead to a ban yes, this is why BMBF stops Beat Saber updating itself. Better to just wait for BMBF to get updated.

Well, I'm not sure. It isn't that different of people playing a modded Beat Saber when a newer official version is already out. A nice sign appear saying please update, you say no, and play the game. Like I usually do.
The thing with Quest piracy is that it's believed that FB uploads logs of the entitlement checks, this is, what is launched and if that account owns it or not. If he owns Beat Saber, the entitlement should be ok.

Then again it's all speculation.

Don't know about any of those, I just use VLC if I'm watching it on my computer monitor. For VR I have an Oculus Quest so whatever that's using natively.

Video compression has been an issue for me in the past but I think Youtube's algorithm doesn't hammer it quite as much if it's a 4K video so it looks alright this time around. If it's still looking a bit muddy I can probably upload the high quality version somewhere for direct download, it's only around 4GB.

Might be different for me because I'm loading the MP4 onto my Quest and playing it directly from internal storage. Didn't actually have time to check to see if the Youtube version is playing smoothly at 4k60fps before I had to leave for work today, I'll check it when I get home and maybe work on uploading a different version if it's too choppy. Some loss in quality is expected from the compression but I don't want it stuttering constantly if it can be avoided.

I don't know what goes here.
Based on the extreme Pop1 love recently (err, like, a month ago) I checked it out. I thought the gliding and climbing mechanics were great. The shooting I liked, but I just couldn't get past the reticle. It makes sense for the kind of game they're going for, I guess, but I couldn't believe there wasn't any kind of option to disable it. Between that and the SUPER confusing inventory system, I ended up refunding it.

I feel like I've only seen hate for Onward on here, but I downloaded that after and think it's super solid. Admittedly, I've mostly just hosed around with the shooting range and practice matches, but I like that:
1. Everything's mapped to a pouch or a holster on your visible body (seriously, gently caress Pop 1's system where, to drop a gun I'M CURRENTLY HOLDING, I have to use a menu)
2. Basically no UI to take you out of it. If I want to see if my gun's loaded, I do what you'd do with a real gun, pull the slide back just until you can see brass. I feel like a lot of games would have a much more binary system, where it's INTERACT AT ALL WITH SLIDE= EJECT A ROUND
3. They have a "Hold with middle finger grip button, interact with trigger" system that feels super intuitive. It probably helps it have relatively generous collision detection without feeling like you're having to fight the system

I've heard the player base is trash though. Is there any goon presence?

I've been playing Onward with a group of friends and it's pretty fun.

I mostly like the inventory system but it could use some work, getting the syringes out can occasionally be incredibly frustrating. You probably haven't run into this because you're playing single player, but when you're playing with friends and trying to quickly revive one of them it's incredibly annoying.

I have no clue about the general player base, we've been playing coop pretty much exclusively. It's really fun to load up a map with 128 terrorists and try to survive, pretty difficult even with the bots on lower difficulty levels.

We recently tried out Pavlov Shack and I hated it. It's very similar to Onward, and does a few things better, but I found it to be no fun. The zombie horde mode is kinda ruined by the worst enemy AI I've ever seen (they will literally just run face first into a wall forever) and we didn't really care for the other modes we tried either.

We are going to give it another chance though because we didn't try Trouble in Terrorist Town which is supposed to be a lot of fun (basically Among Us).
