I know this thread is all over the place in terms of how broke brained we are but I sort of assumed the only serious truthers about that were ideological 2nd amendment freaks. I do think that especially in this thread sometimes it’s good to remind ourselves that genuinely weird stuff just happens sometimes and you just aren’t gonna have good answers.

again I see how it came off and I really didn’t mean it that way even if I should have known better
Like I said, sorry if I (inevitably) came across as defensive, it's just a really touchy subject for me because of the things I mentioned. They weren't just the 2A types, they were the proto-QAnon crowd and just waiting for for a grand conspiracy to unite them and call them to action.

The Oklahoma City Bombing and the 1/6 Capitol Mob both seem like they could have had intelligence agencies pushing the far-right to go beyond what the general public will accept in order to discredit the movement. Throw in the Feds and local cops that are fellow travelers with the far-right, along with general incompetence and you can get some fun results.

The 1/6 Op has already been remarkably successful in normalizing anti-protest surveillance and punishment. Even now in late April I'm coming across links for "Capitol Rioter Identified via Facial Recognition Technology" - thereby normalizing not just FR Tech (they used to write dystopian novels about just that) but arrest-for-protesting with a kicker of public support (no outcry is the same as support, mind). None of these people being arrested from FR tech committed a crime, it's really really spectacularly successful.

it’s crazy how quickly every downtown area I’ve been to has descended into cameras everywhere, particle board covering the lobby windows, and just overwhelming police presence

I bought a book about conspiracy theories and the brain because I was worried about going crazy and in the preface it started talking about peasants having ludicrous conspiracies about their feudal masters collaborating to keep them down.

What do you mean 1/6 was an Op? The feds were extremely proactive in making sure it would be a peaceful rally by arresting the one guy who wanted to form an armed counter-protest to the mass of hooting morons at the capital.

I mean there was a massive amount of chatter on every social media platform by every chud group in the nation saying how violent 1/6 was going to be, but who could have seen it coming?

Granted, every revanchist movement with a link to intelligence like Falun Gong, MEK, Ukrainian Nazis and anti-Castro Cubans were also there, but they just went for brunch and got lost in the crowd, nothing to read into that at all.

Hey now, there were the alleged attacks against LEOs that, in the context of what the police do to left-wingers on a good day, sounded extremely restrained and almost playful.

There's this hack scientist named Milton Leitenberg who pops up with scientific sounding denials whenever USA biowarfare in Korea trends, and I personally feel very clever for seeing through one particular bit of obfuscation he's thrown out before which is that alleged samples of anthrax collected by the Koreans and Chinese were determined to be native to the peninsula, which according to Leitenberg proves them to be lying about the diseases coming from an American bioweapons program. HOWEVER! We also know that the murdering psychopaths of Unit 731 were given amnesty by the Americans in exchange for their research, which included the disease cultures they had cultivated from wild samples in Manchuria, meaning that any germ warfare used by America in Korea would in fact be sourced from local pathogens!!! This deliberate attempt at sleight of hand by a supposed expert also tells me that Milton knows he's full of poo poo and that we're guilty as sin.

quote:

Milton Leitenberg is an American academic specializing in arms control and weapons of mass destruction. He is a senior research associate with the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland (CISSM), a division within the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland.[1]
