No, you know what? Any perceived change in me is not a change in my personality. It's the removal of symptoms that were obscuring my personality. My answer to “But they change your personality” has always been “Good! that’s the reason I’m taking them!” There’s certain things about my personality that I don’t like and if I could change them with the push of a button I’d slam it so hard I’d break the table.

Kennel posted:Comet's tail doesn't tell its direction, Little My, you idiot, you moron. To be fair, if the comet is coming in opposite from the sun, then My's statement is correct. The tail does not imply direction, but it does tell them the relative location of it and them compared to the sun. My has accurately understood that since the comet is currently only visible at night, it's coming in from the outer solar system and is on a similar orbital plane as them, which would have the tail facing away from them. Combine that with it growing brighter, and she reasonably assumes that it's heading towards them. I wonder if the Skjellerup–Maristany comet inspired the story, as it was visible for over a month in 1927, and Tove would have been around 12-13 when it happened. They're things you tend to remember, I can still vaguely remember my parents bringing us kids out a couple nights to see Hyakutake/The great comet of 1996 when that was happening.

It’s my favorite incomprehensible comic and the one Mr. Music asks me to show him every day. I also want to take a moment for Smokey Stover. It is so dense with gags that it gets a little busy, but I am absolutely enamored with all these ridiculous chairs and the background gags with all the framed pictures. Absolutely bonkers and a real joy to read, gj Selachian for posting it and finding it in the first place. Classic Zits

JethroMcB posted:In 1979, the Three Mile Island nuclear power station near Harrisburg, PA suffered a partial meltdown that permanently disabled one of the reactors. It was, and remains, the most significant nuclear accident in American history although (relatively speaking) it was a very mild incident. Local radiation exposure was roughly equivalent to a single medical X-Ray, and there was a modest release of radioactive material that couldn't even be detected in air/soil/water samples just days later. Most long-term studies have not found a significant increase in cancer or other radiation-linked diseases in areas surrounding the plant in the years since, but due to the heightened media coverage at the time it served as a flashpoint for anti-nuclear activists in the US and shorthand for the perceived dangers of nuclear power.

Ugh, I hope The Evening Star drops it as fast as it did The Shadow. I hate looking at it. Axa Galen's such an rear end in a top hat, you'd think Axa dated him.

This is the only Roger Wilco ad I've seen, so perhaps the Powerhouse people decided to focus their ad budget somewhere else, leaving a frustrated commercial artist's dream of an entire Roger Wilco Universe to wither and die. Anyway, it's not like an amusing character who has adventures that vaguely involve the advertised product is a new or unusual ad genre.
