I’ve seen that as well. I’ve always shopped the deal I get from Greg to as many other dealers as possible, and only the CCA guy in Santa Barbara would come close. Yes, I could in theory save a few hundred bucks someplace but I haven’t figured out how to actually do that. The no haggle pricing only works when the entire brand adopts it.

In other news, I went to my local indy coffee place and when I got out of the car someone getting into theirs next to me said “that sounds like a beast” and it’s the first nice thing someone said to me or my car in a long time.

Im half way into the lease and at less than 10k miles. I need to go on some drives.

I've had plenty of people take a good hard look at mine when walking past at cross walks etc, and I've caught a few people taking pictures / videos from behind while smiling

Or they're looking at the front splitter with big chunks missing... don't install a front splitter before the winter :(

Truth be told it may not be the car but more the plate, I was surprised it was available to buy TBH.

NAME NAMES and area

In my area Roseville, CA the local AutoNation Dealer is always, exactly $2,500 over priced from what I can get from the popular SCAL dealers for a new car. This area is filled with morons that think they live in Orange County though.

I ordered my first new BMW from the Santa Barbara guy back in 2000 when I lived in the Bay Area at a nice discount. SF Bay Area dealers were super-mega douchey back then, you young'ns have no idea. :clint:

Seriously, walked into Peter Pan in San Mateo and the conversation was:
"yeah I'd like to order a 330ci sport in manual please, what is your best price over invoice of $xx,xxx, xxx"
"oh, we have a limited allocation and for an order our price is MSRP plus $3,500 for market area adjustment. How much will you be putting down?"

Not sure why they can't update it with firmware but here we are

Yeah, it has to be a build date after July 1, 2020. They claim it's due to different NFC hardware to support the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) digital key format. *shrugs*

I pulled it out but it was going more like WEE EEP WEE EEP WEE EEP at random times in the parking lot. It only arms 30s after the car locks. New (junkyard) one came in the mail today. Pretty straightforward plug and play to replace, hopefully it does the trick.

such horseshit. Even if there was hardware to change, there is ZERO reason why my f87 shouldn't/couldn't support it; especially after the "oh we won't make you pay for CarPlay" debacle.

I've been using the new app, and I don't notice much of a difference functionality wise. It looks nicer, but I really don't see why this couldn't be an update for the existing app (I'm sure there's -some- reason).

so here is the thing i've learned about BMW since I delved into the world of coding ESYS coding.

There are 100% features that BMW will tell you are locked behind hardware changes that are either unavailable for that model, or country specific.

But all it usually takes is a programming to change a 0 to a 1 and bam, suddenly said feature works just dandy

Just FYI this is a terrible way to approach getting a good deal.

Their best price and your best price are pretty much always going to be very different and you will almost never get their best right off the bat.

Do some research and come in with a price that you think is fair, tell them you want to be at a number that is just a bit below what your real number is and see where it goes from there. If they aren’t close after one or two counter offers then leave. They will either do the deal or they wont. Anything more and you are wasting your time.

oh for sure, note this was in the year 2000 though and poo poo was silly in the SF area then and that dealer was notorious for being douchey, but I lived nearby so I thought I'd give a shot. Also not many folks were ordering back then and dealers treated it as an annoyance because they had a bunch of non-sport automatics sitting around.

I signed a way better deal for an ordered 330Ci at the time with Cutter Motors instead via FAX :newlol:

Late to the party on this, but I can disable the motion sensor on my e61 with a second press of the lock button on the remote. Apparently it's so you can leave a dog [or a kid] in a locked car while you run into a store without the car going apey.

Lurking on bimmerpost is absolutely fantastic. When I was shopping my M340i some guy in Boston literally sent me his exact numbers just because I DM'd him and asked. He was even nice enough to tell me that he chose a different dealer even though it was a little bit more expensive because it was closer to his house and sent me both deals he had worked out (Showcase BMW and Herb Chambers for those in Boston).

I have a guy at my dealership who basically gives me whatever the best deal I find at Bimmerpost is as long as I promise not to post numbers there or anywhere else.

Retrofit... the lane assist? Eh, it's only OK, it's basically a REALLY mild stick shaker, the rumble strips around here do a better job TBH. I've recently disabled it for all intents and purposes- I picked up a bunch of stuff off an e61 partout, including a heated sport wheel. Thankfully, it only throws an error message if I hit the lower configurable button. Why does that need an e90 bumper? My sensor is a camera by the rearview mirror.

E: OH, you think that's the adaptive cruise. Yeah, unfortunately, no.

And, yes, MHD has made the rattle better. I'm going to have to get back under there and do something about the turbos eventually. They still make good boost, so I tend to ignore the noise.

In the meantime, I'd recently put billsteins on the front, and had this HORRIBLE clunk from the shock bottoming out on relatively soft hits. I later realized it was my swaybar hitting my front axle :stonk: So I took the junkyard set of endlinks I had for... reasons, and turned some sleeves and extended them 3/4". This is only a temporary, proof of concept kind of thing (it worked, fwiw). I'll probably wind up buying a DIY turnbuckle solution once I get around to it. I'm a little surprised that the billsteins weren't a straight swap, but eh.

Some pics if anyone is actually interested:

Here's the before, with the car on the ground. You can see where the oetiker clamp for the boot had scratched the sway bar (I don't have an after pic for whatever reason).
