Fire Emblem and Persona are at least cool enough games, I've played bits of some of them and while they have never clicked enough for me to see them to the end I can see the appeal and what they do well. Persona 5 in particular had an amazing battle system and incredible presentation but the overall story just didn't do anything for me and I petered out 40 hours in. There are a lot of weirder out there ones that seemed strange to me though - Xenosaga, Ys, Disgaea, .hack, Megami Tensei, SaGa, that kind of thing. They seemed out there even for anime games.

I was thinking about something today: where the gently caress are all the hockey video games? I'll admit I haven't played one since NHL 94 but are there even modern ones? If there are they must be pretty poo poo since I've never heard of them. There should be a good hockey game. greedfall and outerworlds really prove that the type of games bioware made even when they were competent don't really hold up anymore. they're boring as gently caress. I know they're not bioware games, but when they were released they universally hailed as the type of games bioware used to make. and has anyone actually completed dragon age inquisition. they were cool at the time, but too many good games have been released since that prove you don't need boring as gently caress dialogue to have an engaging story held up by fun gameplay. i think the mass effect collection will be interesting in showing they don't hold up

Call of Cthulhu (2018) is a good game. Putting RPG elements into an investigative/adventure game is a fun idea and the different paths and ways you can get through the mystery based on your different stats is solid. Voice acting is solid for the most part too.

He makes particular video games that don't have mass appeal, so it's weird that it was as popular as it was. Like a Gaspar Noe movie being hailed as a box office smash. That being said, it's... fine and arguably pretty good if you don't try to engage too much with the combat, which is also... fine. It's not really more pervy than a lot of other JRPGs, I don't know where that all comes from. Like, FF12 has way hornier character design. If it helps, most of the game is played as 9S (you're supposed to play through the game many times).

Whatever the fire emblem game on the DS was where in between missions your characters would be like "lets chat" and it would send you to some weird room where they would stare blankly at you while you, like, patted their head or whatever the hell to boost hearts that I couldn't figure out what they even did got me to nope out of that series. Combat also seemed entirely dependent on how often you forced two characters to smooch yet I was not allowed to build the Sacred Band of Thebes which is some bullshit.
