This is why Splatoon's music works, everyone's used to pop songs you can barely tell the lyrics of, so made up squid language just takes off the burden of having to try to understand it.

A big estate agency, aka realtor here in Ireland (country is relevant because we have an exceptionally peppery history with landlords) ran a radio ad here advertising their services to landlords. The tagline? "We do the dirty work so you don't have to" It lasted for about 2 days before it disappeared forever.

I understand why you can't edit tweets. But Twitter should really let you add some sort of clarifying thing (outside of the 280 chars) to a tweet after the fact which will (almost) always appear alongside it. Instead of this thing where if you don't delete it, it can just show up anywhere without context forever, and people keep engaging with it regardless of how it might have been addressed afterward. Or maybe some sort of "tweet lock" where you can suppress engagement on a tweet; can't be liked/replied/retweeted anymore, maybe it won't even embed anymore, etc.

Sucrose posted:These lyrics or anything about atomic bombs aren't in the song Melt With You, what am I missing? So, Byzantine's quoting a song called Radioactive Mama, which is a song literally about contracting cartoonish radiation poisoning while making out with, as the name suggests, a radioactive woman. Performed by Robert Allman as part of a novelty album about sci-fi concepts. The album's had an entirely different song tapped for the radio in Fallout games, which should give you an idea of the tone and content of the whole thing. No loving idea why they brought it up, but there you go. I Melt With You absolutely is about making love while an atomic bomb drops, though, that's confirmed by the song's writer ('I'll melt with you' is, chillingly, not a metaphor). It was right around the beginning of the eighties, the spectre of the Cold War was still there. It's not as blatant about the subject as, say, 99 Luftballoons, but it was absolutely the song's intent. Cleretic has a new favorite as of 17:11 on Apr 21, 2021 |

Consider that the Something Awful forums, running on code birthed from the fires of hell twenty loving years ago, somehow manages to not only let people edit posts, but also flag that they’ve been edited, give them a grace period to edit without that flag, and block edits on a forum-level granularity. All Twitter needs to do is put an edited flag on a tweet that, when clicked, shows the original tweet. SA might not do that, but despite Jeffrey’s riches, he’s not a multinational corporation worth billions of dollars that employs thousands of engineers.

You can indeed turn replies off too, but not sure if that can be done afterwards or only when making the post. E: looks like it’s only when you make it originally, unless I’m just not seeing the option.

I was expecting they just pull a "we regret the tweet, the social media intern in question has been fired" and try to play it off like nothing happened.
