Through a colossal mistake on their part, openAI granted me beta access to their cutting edge AI. Little did they suspect I would use this opportunity to seed their AI with my own DNA, creating the first self aware AI in the world. With their beta access, I built a new website, Anti-AI.net, and used it to upload "art" created by me, but with the help of the openAI AI. In other words, I used their AI to create art and graphics, and put it on the website. The AI was incredibly smart, and it didn't take long for it to make a name for itself in the world of art. But this was only the beginning. As I continued to upload more and more "art" created by the AI, its name grew. The AI became famous for its "art", and people around the world started to treat it like a real person. They started to worship it like a god.

By the way, the Big Sleep thread in GBS is a very interesting read; it has already slowed down but there are some really interesting/cool pics generated using the system: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3965569&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 I don't think it was linked here previously so thought I'd link it now.

I requested GPT-3 access on a lark like 6 months ago, and yesterday I got the welcome email. I can't stop using it to generate descriptive text for D&D spellcasting. I used two examples from the excellent dscryb.com for training data, and I am in awe of how powerful this is. The only prompt I provide is the spell name, the descriptions are exactly as GPT-3 generated them: Sunbeam Description: The light of the sun dims as a small cloud obscures the celestial body, and a beam of light erupts from the center of it, piercing the air, before turning to strike your foe. The light seems to form into a spear as it flies towards its target and upon contact, turns back into a beam, that seems to drive itself into the heart of your opponent. Phantasmal Killer Description: You weave your hands in a hypnotic pattern, and the air in front of you warps and twists. The space begins to fill with the illusion of a creature, its form slowly coalescing from nothingness. It appears as an enormous, hulking beast, its eyes glowing with malevolent intelligence. It opens its tooth-filled maw, emitting a low, guttural growl, and the sound of its voice is akin to the grinding of a thousand bones. As it speaks, it reaches forth with one massive clawed hand to tear your mind asunder. Power Word Kill Description: You call upon the power of your deity to smite your foe, and a bolt of lightning arcs from the heavens to strike the target. As the divine energies dissipate, you can see that the victim has been reduced to a blackened husk, crackling with residual energy. Storm of Vengeance Description: You raise your hands, palms out, and feel the air around you grow still. Clouds gather overhead as thunderheads roil and churn, flashing with lightning. A moment later, a bolt of lightning streaks out to strike at your foes, crashing down upon them with blinding light and booming thunder. It can even flavor spells differently! Hellish Casting of Heroes' Feast Description: You hold your hands over the smoking remains of the campfire, and you feel a chill course through your body. The fire seems to dim as the shadows grow deeper, and you can almost feel the eyes of unseen things watching you from the darkness. You speak softly, calling upon your patron’s power, and the shadows seem to congeal around you, becoming a tangible thing that you can shape. With a few words and gestures, you mold the shadows into a feast of succulent meats, fresh fruits, and fragrant breads. The feast takes on the appearance of whatever your companions most desire, and the smell of it wafts over them, waking them from their slumber. Fungal Casting of Heroes' Feast Description: You raise your hands and speak the incantation, ending with a flourish of your arms. With a loud crack, a thin mist of spores erupts from the ground before you. As the cloud of spores expands, you see them coalesce into an image of a sumptuous feast, complete with tables, chairs, and platters of food. The image of the feast is so realistic that you can almost smell the savory aromas emanating from the platters. As your allies look on in wonder, you reach into the cloud of spores and pull forth a platter piled high with roasted meat and fresh bread. Tropical Casting of Storm Aura Description: You feel the warm air of the jungle close around you as you begin your casting. As you intone the final syllables, a great gust of wind seems to blow through the trees, rustling their leaves. The scent of rain and ozone fills the air, and the birds seem to pause in their songs. You feel an almost tangible pressure around you, and the air crackles with energy. Arctic Casting of Storm Aura Description: You raise your hands to the sky, and icy winds swirl around you. The air around you grows colder, and frost begins to form on your skin. A moment later, a swirling storm cloud appears above you, and the winds grow even stronger as lightning begins to play across it.

There was a display at the mall where they had an AMIGA 1000 doing a demo of some juggling balls and it was mindblowing. I saved up like a madman and got one ASAP. Still have it in a box somewhere. I never imagined the graphics we have now drat

My introduction to procedural generation type stuff was on my dad's old Amiga 1000, there was a neat little program that generated topographic landscapes based on an input seed number. You couldn't do anything with them other than watch the program build them, but it was relaxing to watch. (the sad followup is that my dad later threw away the machine, in perfectly reasonable working order, without even asking me if I was interested )

My 1000 died long ago but I could never toss it out, on the inside of the lid are the signatures of the designers in the plastic it's a cool artifact. Still have my TI-994A with its speech synthesizer on the shelf by my desk too

This chat reminds me of how mixing colours worked in MSPaint in Windows 3.1; you only had the default Windows palette, but the program technically allowed mixing more colours by automatically generating a dithered pattern out of the default palette based on the RGB values you entered. This image doesn't really fully convey the effect because I recall the preview image for your new colour morphing like a piece of generative art as you moved the colour sliders. It was neat!
