They published Advent Rising in the same timeframe as Psychonauts so I've never forgiven them for spending all their marketing budget on the former. Especially since I bought in and grabbed Advent Rising instead.

Advent Rising was one of the earliest games I had on Steam after Half Life 2 and yeah, it's very much a mess. The "Halo Killer" era produced a lot of attempts but AR was probably the most blatant. Or Brute Force, one of those two.

But the Post-Halo-Pre-CoD era is a whole nother beast altogether; its a weirdness that was probably compounded by the fact that the industry was in this weird transitional state at the time. Like a whole lot of new technology seemed to open up at that time and so many developers ended up finding out the hard way that no, you cannot fit all that much on the original XBox and still expect your game to function; or they had some grand vision in mind and severely overestimated what their team/the tech they were running it on was actually capable of. In Advent Rising's case it sounds like they just slammed right into all 3 of those issues: trying to chase the big success story of the era, overly-ambitious vision and trying to cram in way more than the consoles of that era could handle.

Like I was willing to give Jourdain the benefit when none of this was aired, but all these posts she's making now about subtweeting being okay and backtracking and revising her side of the story are definitely sending out a big variety of red flags to me about her personal well being and Kyle Kallgren's. I don't see a point in analyzing it anymore because this all feels like a giant intrusive mess, but man I guess this is just the fate of any Public Faces who don't have the ability to withdraw from society and lose their relateability. Constantly having to have all of the dark points of your personal life scrutinized and re-litigated and deciding if you want to relive those moments again to defend yourself or apologize once more.

On Twitter she keeps deleting her tweets and I suspect she'll delete this statement too soon.
